ZURICH CLASSIC OF NEW ORLEANS

April 24, 2026

Nick Dunlap

Gordon Sargent

Avondale, Louisiana, USA

TPC Louisiana

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Guys, another solid round. Kind of a tale of two nines. Nick, what changed going back to the front nine after I guess no birdies on the back?

NICK DUNLAP: I thought we played good on I guess the back, our front nine. We just didn't get any putts to fall, didn't get any momentum. Yeah, I thought we played the hard holes very well and the easy holes not so well.

I thought we gave away maybe a shot or two on the par-5s, but got them back on some tough ones.

Q. What's the conversation out there like, Gordon, when you guys just can't get anything to fall, but you know you're playing well?

GORDON SARGENT: Yeah, it's definitely tough to get in a rhythm as far as, like, you may putt on a hole and then not putt for three holes later or you may hit a tee shot and not hit. I think we tried to give each other as many opportunities as possible.

Obviously you're not going to be overly aggressive, but trust in each other knowing that I hit a couple of his shots and he picked me up. I nice to kind of have a partner.

NICK DUNLAP: And vice versa.

GORDON SARGENT: I hit the tee shot, and then I'm, like, I'll see on the green. Yeah, it's kind of nice to I guess getting a rhythm as a partner. It's very tougher individually, but yeah, just trying to feed off each other hitting good shots.

Q. At what point in the round did the wind really start to pick up, because it seems like it's pretty --

GORDON SARGENT: It was blowing pretty good on --

NICK DUNLAP: Like on three.

GORDON SARGENT: -- on 16. Well, because seventeen it was blowing pretty good.

NICK DUNLAP: Our 12th hole I remember I think it was that long par-3 is when it started to pick up, so our last six holes. Honestly, I think three through six is the difficult stretch on this golf course, and I thought we played it very nicely.

Q. For people, Nick, who don't understand how difficult golf can be and wind, particularly this course where there's a lot of crosswinds, what do these guys have in store this afternoon if it keeps blowing like it is?

NICK DUNLAP: We talked about it actually coming down the second to last hole. Alternate shot just has a way of making you feel a little bit uncomfortable. Even if you are really close with your partner, there's still part of you that doesn't want to let him down. You want to play your best. You know you can play good.

Some of those tee shots are not easy. There's a lot of long iron shots too. I wore my 4- and 5-iron out today. There's not just a couple of good shots you have to hit. There's a very good amount.

Q. How do you celebrate a made cut, or do you celebrate it at all tonight?

GORDON SARGENT: It was nice to be done early.

NICK DUNLAP: Yeah.

GORDON SARGENT: Probably get some recovery in, rest, hang out, and go get a good dinner tonight and be ready to go tomorrow.

Q. Are you a little victories guy, Nick? To be playing your first weekend in I guess seven events, are you a guy who thinks about that stuff?

NICK DUNLAP: Yes, for sure. Yeah, I just think it's nice to see my game kind of going in the right direction. It's been a lot better at home even the last couple of weeks. I hadn't quite put it together, but it's been better. It's felt better, and it's nice to see some better tee shots. It's nice to kind of get some putts to fall, so yeah, for sure.
