Quick Quotes
Q. Joining us after the final round of the JM Eagle LA Championship is sponsor invitation Asterisk Talley. Asterisk, a good week this week. Really strong second nine today. Talk about the experience throughout it all.
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, I mean, it's great just to get to play with the pros and get some learning experience, especially for myself and getting to see other players on this course.
Yeah, it was definitely a grind today, just really tough front nine, but I was happy to be able to bounce back after those four bogeys on the front and then just be able to shoot a good round in the end and kind of fight back at the end.
Q. You've had lot of fans out here. Definitely a lot of people that have watched you grow up playing junior golf out here in California. Can you just talk about seeing that support and also recognizing that you have a whole crew supporting you pretty much wherever you go in the country?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, it's great just to have the people here especially. And just getting a text after the round for people watching back home, just knowing that I have support everywhere that even if it no one is really watching here that everyone is watching back at home and it's always great to have that support in Chowchilla and all around the world.
So it's just great to have that behind you.
Q. You'll earn a LEAP point this week and then you're teeing it up next week at The Chevron Championship. Talk about performing in a major next week and what you're looking forward to. Also just continuing to earn LEAP points and prove yourself on the LPGA Tour.
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, it was definitely in my mind when I was making all those bogeys, just trying to get that top 40, and then happy to end up with a current top 15.
But, yeah, just performing in a major is different but it feels the same at the same time. Just a bigger stage, but you're still trying to have the same performance and it's pretty much the same players so you're just really trying to do the same thing.
Q. What do you take from this week that you feel like this is perfect for going into Houston?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I think just kind of the confidence I got on the back nine today. Left a little less of a sour taste in my mouth going into next week just knowing that even with a little rough start today and a rough patches throughout the week, that I was still able to shoot good scores. Happy that I was able to put a red number on the card today and just be able to bounce back from that.
Q. And now that you have had mainly experiences, does that make it a little easier, like, okay, the nerves are different now maybe?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, I think just not only major experiences, but just getting these little LPGA experiences along the way, especially just right before the major. Getting that LPGA start right before and then just getting that preparation going into next week and leaning back on the major experiences I've had is going to be great to calm the nerves and know I've been there before.
Q. Is there such a thing as positive nerves though in your body, just feeling like the juices are flowing now?
ASTERISK TALLEY: Yeah, definitely. I guess it's still stress at the same time, but it's a positive stress. But just kind of recognizing that on the course, just knowing that I do have some adrenaline from being excited. It's still positive stress on your body and it does make you tired still, so just kind of recognizing that and knowing you have to adjust for that.
Q. We talked to Aphrodite earlier in the week and she said that she almost feels less stressed on the LPGA Tour events compared to junior events because she doesn't feel like she needs to go out and win. Do you feel that same way? Do you feel like there is less pressure out here versus competing against your peers?
ASTERISK TALLEY: I definitely think that is a good point. Yeah, just knowing when we go out to those junior events we're expected to win, especially me and Aphrodite. Eyes are always really on us on the junior events, and here it's a little bit different.
So just knowing that there is not as much pressure from the crowd for us to win an event, but us to still play well is definitely good for us I think.
It kind of does take the pressure off you a little bit but you are still trying to go out and prove yourself, especially with these top players. You don't want to, you know, not play your best.
