Q. You knew today was going to be a battle, going toe-to-toe against World No. 1. What did this round require of you?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, just a lot of grit, a lot of grit. I felt like I obviously got off to a great start, and poor three-putt on 2 and you feel like almost what could have been. But I would have taken it before I teed off.

Yeah, I knew Scottie was going to make some birdies down the stretch, and I kind of had to hang in there a little bit. The only chip shot that I found into grain all week was in regulation there.

Q. What about that quick reset? After that chip that didn't go as planned, all of a sudden you're in a playoff; it's 0-0. What was the talk with your caddie, and how did you get your mind right?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, you know, he actually said getting to the tee, he said, we'd have taken this start of the week, and I know Rory said that the other week. I jokingly said to Dan, I was like, oh okay, here he is, Harry Diamond here. Yeah, we had a good laugh about that.

I felt like I was in a good spot, and to hit the 4-iron that I hit there was out of this world.

Q. Closest of the day and it only took until the 73rd hole. It's been well-documented what this event means to you and your family. We knew that the first time you won. You're now a two-time winner here. Your expecting your family to be growing soon. What does this win mean for a second time?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, it means the world. It means the world. This is a tournament I wanted to win growing up, arguably more than any of the majors before I understood about the game. To win it twice means the world. To go out today and go toe-to-toe with Scottie and get over the line there on the 73rd is special.

Q. I'm assuming the family vacations are going to continue here; is that fair to say?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, definitely, definitely. Don't have a choice now.

Q. Of course the family affair is continuing. You are heading to New Orleans; you and your brother are going to be teeing it up next week. How fun is this, to keep it going right now?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Definitely. I'm so excited for next week. My brother is playing well, as well, so yeah, hopefully keep it rolling.
