Q. The Senior PGA Championship, third round. Can you tell us a little bit about what went well for you today?
JASON CARON: I mean, I hit the ball great. Putted the ball pretty good, too. To shoot 67 out there today was a pretty good round of golf.
Early in the round, though, I was telling my caddie, I was just kind of nervous for some reason. I try to downplay everything I can since I've been playing out here, but for some reason today I was a little bit amped up maybe. To be able to go out and play the way I did, it feels good.
Tired a little bit right now, but it was great to play with Henrik Stenson. What a great player he is. Great guy, too. We had a really fun group.
Q. According to my research, you shared the lead last year after 54 holes in this?
JASON CARON: I did, yes.
Q. You finished T-4 two times in this event?
JASON CARON: Yes.
Q. Going into tomorrow, final round, is there anything you can take from last year's share of the lead? How does that weigh into --
JASON CARON: Listen, I figure I'm probably going to be three to five back probably. I'm going to need a great round tomorrow to have any chance, but you know, just giving myself an opportunity is all I'm looking for. Whatever happens, just happens. That's kind of the way I've been doing it ever since I've been out here.
Last year, I mean, I got in that final day. I was tied for the lead, but I was in the second group. You know, second to last group. I slept fine. Didn't have, like, the nerves.
I just said, listen, if I go play my game, maybe something good will happen. I had a chance actually. I wish I could have the 18th second shot back, but overall, I mean, I played great.
Q. I just wanted to ask you, you ever played in the World Championship here, this course?
JASON CARON: I played Feather Sound last year.
Q. Have you competed on this course before?
JASON CARON: I haven't, no.
Q. Well, the course was supposed to have some bite, but the first two days was 10-unders, it was three 8-unders after 36. Is there any teeth in this course?
JASON CARON: Lots. I feel like, listen, the first two days we really didn't get any wind. We were talking about it the start of the week that 8-under, you'd probably sit in the bar and hang out for the tournament.
You know, 10-under was leading after two days and only 2-over was the cut. I mean, there was some really good golf being played this week for those first two rounds. Then it looks like this round, just by looking at the board, it looks like it's playing a little tougher. So, you know, we'll have to see how it goes.
No, it's got plenty of bite. If you're not hitting it that great into the greens and your short game is not on, you can struggle around here a lot.
Q. What's your schedule look like this year? Monday, is that a workday for you? How does that shake out?
JASON CARON: Yeah. So, you know, because I play like next week, I'll just stay down here or go to Atlanta. But as soon as I'm done at Atlanta, I fly home Sunday. We have Mondays off, and I'm back in the office starting Tuesday at the Mill River Club. We have men's opening down Saturday, May 2nd.
Q. Do you check in at the office with a call or two?
JASON CARON: Oh, yeah. Already this morning texted everybody just to make sure we're all straightened out on what we need to get accomplished. We have some bigger events coming up soon.
It's nice my wife works there as well with me, so she's my eyes and ears while I'm away. If anything that needs to be done, she's going to know, so she'll let me know. Great staff, too.
Q. How many do you plan to play this year roughly?
JASON CARON: Probably around 20. You know, maybe a little more. We'll see. It just depends on how well I'm doing.
Q. What is it about this event, about this Senior PGA Championship, that gets the best of your game?
JASON CARON: I mean, it's our championship. I'm a PGA member. It's where it all started, too. In 2024, no expectations. Then all of a sudden it turned into, I mean, a full card on the Champions Tour, which that really doesn't happen.
To be able to say if I had a chance to win this tournament, it would be huge.
