Harbour Town Golf Links

Quick Quotes

Q. You've had a lot of good rounds here. This was your best, a 64. If we can get some comments on your play.

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I played really well. Took care of all the par-5s, took care of the scoring holes, I thought. When I had a wedge in my hand, I gave myself a look. Didn't make every putt I could but made my fair share. I played well.

Q. What did you work on after the round yesterday that maybe helped today?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, just been working on the same couple things in my swing. Just going back to a pattern that I've played with before. Been working at it for a number of weeks now, and it's starting to feel a little better.

Q. Was Friday, Saturday at Augusta important to you, and if so, why?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I definitely played a little better and definitely hit the ball better those days. I think bogey-free both those days, which means you're doing all the right things. Carry a little of that momentum into this week to a golf course I really enjoy.

Q. Did you need to see that at that time?

PATRICK CANTLAY: I think it's always nice to see good rounds. I think getting a little momentum off those couple Friday, Saturday rounds last week, it was easy to come into this week, like I said, back to a place I really like and get rolling.

Q. How have you not won this yet with all of the times you've been in contention?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I mean, just put yourself in contention as many times as you can. That's usually the recipe for getting a victory.

Q. Does it bug you that you haven't gotten that jacket yet?

PATRICK CANTLAY: No, it's a golf course I really like and I've played well at, I've played well at a number of years. I really enjoy every time I come to this tournament. I feel like it's one of the better tournaments that we have on a great golf course.

Q. What's your assessment of the work that's been done to the course?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I think Davis did a good job. I think so often we see these renovations where they come in and do a bunch of crazy things to the golf course. Davis didn't. Davis definitely stuck true to the original design, I would say, and I think he did a great job.

Q. Did it feel like the best round you've ever had at this course today?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I would say. Definitely making that putt on the last -- I was a little surprised to hear it was the lowest round I'd shot out here, but yeah, I played really nice today.

Q. What was the best shot -- you talked about really good ball-striking. What was the best one you hit?

PATRICK CANTLAY: I hit a really nice tee shot on 17 into the wind. Didn't make the putt, but I was very pleased with that swing.

Q. What's the hardest of the 5s to birdie?

PATRICK CANTLAY: It's got to be 15. Just with the tree, so many times you get the ball in the fairway but you still have to hit a big hook up around those trees --

Q. What did you do today?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Hit it in the left side of the fairway and hit a big hook 7-wood long and chipped it to about nine feet, which was actually a pretty good chip from the spot I was at.

Q. I feel like you took on a pretty significant stretch of tournaments in a row at the start of the year. What's the most you've done in a row?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Just three.

Q. How do you feel about this stretch now of that six-week stretch of two majors and three Signatures?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, it's a busy stretch. There's a lot of big tournaments throughout the year so it's no surprise that at one part of the year it's a little congested. Hopefully my game is rounding into form at a busy time, at an important time of the year.

Q. Will you play them all?

PATRICK CANTLAY: I will, the five out of the six.

Q. Is the committee going to try to limit this happening in the future?

PATRICK CANTLAY: I'm not sure where we're going to shake out on all that. I'm not going to comment at this time on that.
