MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 12, 2026

Tyrrell Hatton

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Tyrrell, great playing today.

TYRRELL HATTON: Thank you.

Q. Second 66. How much fun was that?

TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, I mean, I'm really happy with the round that I put together in the end. Obviously had a nice run-on the back nine.

Great up and down on 17. And then obviously disappointed with the second shot into the last. Obviously seen so many great shots there over the years and it was a little bit in between clubs and the wind didn't help because it just started hurting a bit.

If it was more off the right I could have hit a nice 9-iron. But I was scared about 8-iron just going a little bit long and obviously just didn't fully commit to that which is disappointing. So left it out right.

Happy that I managed to get it up and down at least. It's been a great in the end. Happy that I've kind of guaranteed a spot here for next year.

Q. Saw you smiling after that eagle at seven.

TYRRELL HATTON: Well, yeah, I mean, the first thing is I shouted, crystal, which, yeah, obviously happy to make eagle.

That's a huge bonus in the round, and, yeah, helped me get a little bit of momentum.

Q. Take us through the stretch of four straight birdies kind of what was going through your mind? Did you think, if I can get to that number or if I can -- I don't know how much you were leaderboard watching. It was still early with the leaders.

TYRRELL HATTON: To be honest most the back nine I just wanted to make birdies because my wife is due in six weeks and I was thinking about it would be cool to come back next year and our little girl will be pretty much 11 months.

It would be amazing to see her in a boiler suit. Obviously you see all the other dads and their families and the little ones in boiler suits is so cute.

Yeah, I wanted to experience that. Yeah, definitely a motivation for me to try and make some birdies and happy I managed to do that. Yeah, it was cool.

Q. Did you think you figured out a couple things about this place this week that maybe you didn't know before?

TYRRELL HATTON: I don't think so. This is my tenth Masters, so been fortunate to be here a lot and my results the last three years have definitely improved which is nice.

I guesses I've got maybe a little bit more comfortable on the golf course on certain shots. Over the years you know where you can and can't miss certain pins. Obviously I've tried to do the best I could, and, yeah, I mean, the last three days ended up being great.

Feel like I played quite great on Thursday afternoon. Feel like the course played really hard then. Yeah, I can't really complain at the end of the week.

Q. If Rory gets this done being two holes to go what do you make of him and what he's been able to do here the last two years?

TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, I mean, last year was a roller coaster back nine for sure I think for everyone, let alone for him. Yeah, it was amazing for him to complete the grand slam. And coming into this week in some ways the pressure is off but he still wants to go out and win like everyone else does this week.

And, yeah, when it comes down to it on Sunday I bet he's still nervous and still means a lot to him to win. He would join a list of Tiger, Jack, and Faldo, to -- what's the word -- defend, which is unbelievable.

So, yeah, that's -- he's an incredible player and pretty cool what he's done in the game.

Q. When you look back at this week will you look more at the 74 or will you look at the 72 in the third round where it was a really low round for the field? What is kind of the more what if?

TYRRELL HATTON: Not really. I actually played really good yesterday; just didn't hole a putt.

Unfortunately for me throughout the years here, that's generally been a thing. I've just not holed that many putts. I seem to struggle with the speed, whether that be you go from one extreme where you get a street fast putt and then you get the other way where it's uphill and they can be unbelievably slow.

It's hard to judge. That's probably the next step for me round here, would be to just have four really good days on the greens. I feel like there was a lot of good stuff with my long game in the end, and although the scores on Thursday and Saturday maybe didn't show it, there was a lot of good shots.

As I said Thursday afternoon played really tough. I played well on Saturday. Just didn't hole putts. So I'm happy with my score Friday and Sunday. It's taken me to double digits now in rounds in the 60s I think.

Yeah, it was nice to shoot two good scores.

Q. Do you have any appreciation for what Rose is doing again? You know, second year in a row with what, putting himself there again?

TYRRELL HATTON: Yeah, again, I feel like if there was anyone that is deserving of a green jacket this would be it probably would be Rosey.

As it stands right now, it looks like he's going to come up just a hair short again. But, again, incredible player and I imagine one day he'll slip on a green jacket.

Q. Finished T4 at the U.S. Open. That's your best result. Obviously your best result here. Do you feel like you are in the knocking-on-the-door phase of your major career?

TYRRELL HATTON: I don't know. I think my major record would have been pretty abysmal up to that point, if I'm honest. I try not to treat them any differently. Still go out there every day and every round, every shot and try the best I can.

Obviously that's all I can do. Maybe I would need to find a way of preparing a little bit better, whether that be more putting or something throughout the early part of the week just to get a bit more ready.

I don't know. But it's not something that I really look at. I just go out there and try my best.
