Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. How does a Sunday like this feel?
GARY WOODLAND: It's awesome to be here and amazing to finish like that. Today was peaceful. We were obviously out early. Pace of play, we were moving around pretty good, so it was nice.
It was a tough week for me just for a lot of things, but it was nice to be out there this morning early and kind of see the results that I knew my game has been showing. I've been playing well, obviously, the last couple weeks, and today was a nice day out there.
Q. Do you feel like this peace or the things that Augusta brings to the players here is what you need in this time of your life?
GARY WOODLAND: Yeah, this is the pinnacle, right? The attention to detail here is like nothing that we see anywhere. Everything is -- the way we're treated, the way everything is set up for us pre-round, post-round and then the golf course is obviously amazing. This is a special week.
Q. Does having a week like this help with what you're going through, or is every day and every week different? Can it carry over?
GARY WOODLAND: The big deal is every day is a day that we can learn. So this was a tough week just for how close the patrons are to me. But we can learn a lot from that. My caddie was getting behind me more. I was getting the bag behind me. Security was amazing, the whole staff. It's just a lot of things I can learn.
We can go back and talk with the doctors and figure some more things out. But this was a tough week but a good week, and I'll learn a lot from this week.
Q. Was there anything in the four days where you had --
GARY WOODLAND: I mean, there were some times where you had to take a couple extra looks at security and slow down a little bit, slow my heart rate down and slow the thoughts down. Like I said, I'll learn a lot from this week, and it was good.
Q. What was the difference in your game?
GARY WOODLAND: I was tired the first couple days for sure. There was a lot going on. But today was just peaceful. I slowed down. Good text from my coach last night that don't let the frustration set in because I played beautifully Thursday, as well, and I've been playing nice. Don't let the last couple days throw those days out, and I did that today, and it was nice.
Q. What does your upcoming schedule look like, and maybe how did that win in Houston...
GARY WOODLAND: The win changed everything because obviously I wouldn't have been here and I wouldn't have been in next week, either. So I'll play next week, I'll take off Zurich and then play three in a row. So Miami, Charlotte and PGA.
Q. Given how great the weather was this week, the unusual lack of rain, are you surprised the course didn't play tougher? I'm sure it wasn't easy --
GARY WOODLAND: I mean, Thursday was -- the back nine Thursday was as hard as I'd seen this place personally. This is my 13th time. I've never seen weather like this. This is unbelievable. This is absolutely perfect.
But the golf course, I think today, is absolutely perfect for these guys coming in because there's opportunities out there, and that's what you want. You want these guys to make -- you can still be penalized with a tough shot but there's chances to make birdies and maybe some eagles on the back nine, so it should be a fun afternoon.
Q. Were the greens able to hold them?
GARY WOODLAND: They were today, but we were so early so they were receptive this morning. It's obviously sun, there's a little wind starting to pick up a little bit, so it'll be tougher for those guys this afternoon than we had it this morning.
