Augusta, Georgia, USA
Quick Quotes
Q. How has the week been? How was today?
MAX HOMA: Good. Today was the most frustrating day. I feel like I played really well. Didn't really get much out of it, but, yeah, played nice for three days, so hopefully get hot tomorrow.
But a bit of a frustrating back nine.
Q. What was frustrating? Might be a stupid question, but...
MAX HOMA: Because my good shots didn't go anywhere good. Left a couple out there with the putter on the back, for sure. Just hit good shots on nine -- or on ten, 11. What was the other one I hit? 17, 18 I guess. They just left me in weird spots, so just frustrating. Mostly 17.
Q. How is the golf course playing? How would you describe the way Augusta is right now?
MAX HOMA: Pretty easy. There's random greens that are really firm. 17 is significantly firmer than any other green. 18 is starting to get baked out too. The front nine is pretty -- I mean, very gettable. I didn't feel like it was too fast, too firm.
The back you just have certain holes play tricky, but I think it's very gettable. The pins are not bad until you get to probably 16. 16 through 18 is going to be hard.
But yeah, not too bad. Obviously the weather is amazing, so it helps.
Q. Is some of the frustration that you can tell you're hitting it well enough to be right in contention?
MAX HOMA: Yeah, I mean, contention doesn't feel like super far away, but yeah, just this round, I mean, I played so well for, you know, ten holes and hit a good shot on 11, and I don't know, it went way further than we thought. Then same with 18. I don't know.
It's just hard to hit a really good golf shot and get up there and it is in just an awful spot. It irks you a little bit. The game feels good, so hopefully tomorrow I'll score a bit better.
