THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.
Q. Congratulations. 300 won, 367 attempts. You're one of the youngest to reach this incredible statistic. I would like to ask you, relax, think about these 300 won, and tell me your top three.
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Top three? The first one. The first one is always special, the first ATP match that I won.
Q. Do you remember the opponent?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Yes. Albert Ramos in Rio Open, 2020.
I would say probably the French Open final. I would say that.
I don't know. The first one that came to my mind is like the first win against Djokovic. I would say that's my top three.
Q. Jannik today scored eight points with dropshots. So as the master of dropshot, are you worried that he might become better and better on this shot? And you play dropshot in a very natural, organic way. Jannik had to work on this shot. Do you think that maybe he could watch your videos?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I don't know, but obviously I have seen Jannik making more dropshots than usual. He's doing pretty good, to be honest. You know, every dropshot, I know he's been working on it, but it seems like it's natural to him right now.
So it's gonna become a really good weapon for him. We could see that he's building the point, and then the opponent step back a little bit, and then he makes the dropshots. I think he's doing really well.
Probably in the practice to become a really good player to make a dropshot, I don't know if he's been watching any videos of me (smiling). I don't know. But, you know, for me, I'm not worried at all. Just happy to see, you know, he's, like, doing different things to be better.
I would say it's gonna be something that it's going to push me to be better and being concerned if I'm gonna play against him in the future.
So let's see. If he has to do it in a really, like, tough moments, like in pressure moments, let's see how he's gonna be, but right now, he's pretty good in the dropshot.
Q. You're now in the semifinals. You don't know yet who will be your opponent. If it's Valentin Vacherot, what do you think of him and what do you think of his story here?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, it's impressive, his story. Obviously I would say he has a lot of motivations playing at home.
He has won great matches in this tournament this year. I never played against him before. I just practiced once in Indian Wells, and I know he's a pretty tough opponent to play against.
Let's see who's gonna win today. Alex is always a tough one, a great player.
So if it's one or the other, I will be more than happy to play against the winner. But obviously I would be excited to play Vacherot if it's in his hometown.
Q. Your feeling about the match? Playing really well? You must be happy with that after the match of yesterday where there were some little moments you were a little bit down but today you was more better.
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Yeah, I would say I just play a great match and really consistent. I would say I just play a great tennis since the first game until the last game of the match, which probably the previous match I just got in trouble. In the second set, I just lost the feeling, and I let him go into the match again and I let him play great tennis.
I think today I just step up a little bit, and I didn't let him to play his style, his tennis, and I just try to be good, you know, in every game, in every shot, in every point. I just really happy about it.
Q. I know you're a huge golf fan, and yesterday the Augusta Masters start. Were you watching the Masters? And who do you think can win the tournament?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, yeah, just after the match, just ran back to the hotel to put the Masters. So for me, I had a little bit problem, because I didn't find it in the TV, and the phone sometimes, having Spanish phone sometimes tricky to find, to watch the Augusta Masters.
I could watch it a little bit. I felt sorry a little bit about Jon, didn't have a good day yesterday. But supporting him always. Sergio Garcia, as well, Spanish player.
I just got crazy seeing Rory McIlroy, playing such a great day first day, first round of the Masters. I'm just cheering on him, and he'll hopefully go till the end.
Q. We were talking maybe Sinner looking at your dropshots. What would you like to look at Sinner's shots, that you would like maybe to imitate or that you would like to steal from him and play even better?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Well, I just have couple of things, to be honest. The transitions to defend, when he's defending, to attack, the way that he makes a really good approach the ball and, you know, go aggressive.
I don't know how to explain it, to be honest, but it is the way he just approach the ball. I think that's incredible.
It seems like he just hit the ball every time the sweet point of the racquet, and that's something that I really look a lot of times. One other thing is the serve. Yeah, the serve, he has improved a lot the serve, you know, the last, I don't know, six months.
Q. First or second?
CARLOS ALCARAZ: Both. So something that I really want to be better, and I just seeing sometimes what he has done different the last six months and trying to, like, see how I can put it on myself.
Yeah, I would say those things, just I'm really impressive and sometimes I just look at him.
