MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 10, 2026

Collin Morikawa

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Collin, physically everything hurts, but then mentally there's a level of satisfaction?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Honestly, it doesn't hurt. My legs are very tired, but the trust isn't there. It's a really weird way to describe it. Like, it just -- I don't trust myself to swing normally.

I mean, if you watch any of my swings, it's the armsy-est swings I've ever put. You know, I think I'm just guarding, because I never know when it's going to happen. Then I don't know how to get over that. I think it's going to take some time, but you know, you grind it out. Trust me, the last two days were some of the best golf. No matter what I would have shot, but truthfully, today was probably the best golf I could have played.

Q. I was wondering, when you had a bad hole, you can say, okay, I'm not playing my game. When you have a good hole, when you birdie, like, five holes like today, is it a gift?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: I don't know. The putter still feels great. I still feel like I can hit some decent shots, and I'm just hoping that they all come during the 18 holes. You know, I've done it enough to where I know how to square up the club face. I know what I kind of need to do with my arms. It's just hard sometimes.

Thankfully the wind is not up. I think if the wind were up for me, it would be a lot more challenging because I would try and force more speed into what I probably shouldn't be doing.

Mark and I are talking about -- I think I've said the number 50 maybe 2,000 times in the last two days. It's because, like, that's the percentage I feel like I'm swinging it. I feel like I'm playing at 50%. I know the ball is going farther than that, but if I think 60%, who knows what my body is going to do? I'm sticking at 50% right now.

Q. Are you in pain at all?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: No, it's just uncomfortable. It's just, like, I never know when something might happen, and it's just, you know, ideally I wouldn't be playing the Masters a few weeks after what had happened and just the way the rehab was going, but you know, I'm here and get to play another two more days at Augusta National.

Q. Are you going to play next week?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: I haven't made that decision. You know, I don't know what the plan is. It's not fun playing like this honestly, because I feel like the game is in such a good spot that I don't want to put in bad habits and I don't want to train my body to do bad things, but this week, you know, just like today I'm going to grind it out as best as I can.

Q. What do you do? Do you do any kind of different stretching or physio or anything to try to --

COLLIN MORIKAWA: I've done a lot. I've done a lot, yeah. I've done a lot, yeah.

Q. I meant more even just to get ready for the rounds.

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Oh, yeah, yeah. No, no, no, trust me. From the time I wake up, I mean, I said about it yesterday, I am more nervous each -- these last two days than I ever have been for anything in my life. I think it's just because I don't know about the if or the when. I don't think I'll ever know that answer, but there's a little bit more time, especially post-round.

I was very happy to make the few pars at the end to get myself a little bit more sleep for tomorrow.

Q. How much do you have to get super aggressive this weekend after seeing what Rory just did?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: I can't even get aggressive with the game. The game I have now, it's take advantage of the shots that I have and deal with it. If I were healthy and swinging great and the score I was at, yeah, maybe a couple of pins you might do a little something, par-5s, but the game I have, I'm literally just going to keep doing what I'm doing and we'll see where that can turn in for the next few days.
