MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 10, 2026

Scottie Scheffler

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess your performance through the first two rounds so far?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, sure. I felt like was really challenging. I played really pretty well. I got very, very difficult late in the day yesterday. Then today I felt like I played a lot better than my score.

You know, I got off to a slow start. A few up and downs early that I should have had that I didn't convert. Then I fought back to get it to even through I guess it was 12 holes.

And then the fairway on 13, probably my only shot I would rather be able to hit again. Maybe a different decision there. That's a tough shot, but I felt like I could make something happen to that pin.

Q. What was the club hitting off the tee?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: 3-iron. Kind of lost my train of thought. You're good. Somebody else ask something. Keep going.

Q. Do you feel like you need to clean something up into the weekend, what would it be?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I would like to hole a few more putts. I felt like it was rolling nice today, but just -- balls just weren't dropping. Maybe my reads were a little bit off. I felt like I was starting online, could have been speed on a couple of putts, but overall today I felt like I definitely played better than my score.

It was frustrating to get it back to even, have a couple of par-5s in front of me, and then not do many things I felt wrong and wasn't able to convert really basically anything coming down the stretch.

Q. (No microphone.)

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I hit a really nice shot and got a wind switch.

Q. What went wrong on the 3-iron on 13?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I just didn't draw it enough. It's a hard shot for me, because where I hit my drive there, we caught that tee ball into the wind again, so as far as I can get it out there, there's still some trees in my way, so I kind of have to start on that bridge, but off the slope I felt like I could pretty easily draw it off.

I just tried to kind of swing it with the slope and just didn't catch it that solid and kind of hung out there.

But that was one where it was -- to that pin specifically that's a shot that I could get in there close, so I felt like it was worth the risk of going for it. It was unfortunate too where the ball crossed. If it would have crossed a little further back, it would have been a much easier pitch for me to be able to get up and down, but I had to go all the way to the drop zone just because there wasn't enough room for me to stop where I had to drop my ball.

Just the little things that I felt like I was close to having a really, really good round today. Just a few things here or there that, you know, poor swing on 13 and then a few breaks that didn't go my way. Yeah, the margins are small.

Q. What's the mindset going into the weekend? Do you feel like you need to chase now, or just keep playing your game?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I mean, you can't force anything around this place. I definitely struck it well enough to have a really, really nice round today, so go get a bit of practice, get some rest, and get ready for tomorrow.

Q. How much more difficult can they make this place this weekend?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I was surprised at the greens. You know, I felt like the greens would get firmer as the week went on, but I think they may have saw how difficult it was late in the day yesterday that they -- it felt like they softened them up a bit today, but I couldn't imagine them doing that the rest of the weekend.

Q. Rory mentioned having won here has just changed his mentality. Obviously you've done that twice. Does that affect you, or is it pretty much the same?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Any time you can have success on this golf course I think it can only give you more confidence. You know, being able to get it done here, you have to do a lot of things right. I think it would be silly to say that doesn't give you some confidence going into a tournament, a tournament like this.
