Quick Quotes
Q. Adam, obviously a tough finish. Thoughts at the moment?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, just feel like now I've got a lot of work to do on the weekend. You know, I don't know. If I was even I would be feeling like I'm a legitimate shot at the weekend.
I don't know. I don't know if it's going to get to double digits. Maybe if someone plays great. I think it's just getting firmer and faster now, so I am going to have to play really solid round and get back in the red tomorrow and try and have something special going on Sunday.
Q. Putt on 16, obviously a three-putt. Did that bother you at all?
ADAM SCOTT: Probably about average from the position I was in. I mean, you can hit it up there, but the wind switched down and it was in off the right when I decided to pull the club and hit it and it flew too far.
It's fine lines out here. I made a bad swing off 18 tee and it cost me a couple, and now it's making it hard for me to see how I work my way back right into it.
Q. Is there in optimism that it's one of those rare kind of 5-, 6-under Masters and that you can still pull this back for the weekend?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, it could be. It's just that there is no breeze. You know, I feel like out of all these great players, couple of them are probably going put it together.
But it could. It's meant to get pretty warm this afternoon and then the next two days. If they let the greens completely dry out, then it's going to be really hard to be on the front foot.
You know, bit of luck and some good stuff happening chipping away on a 68, 68 weekend might go a long way.
Q. What's the balance of giving yourself a little bit of kick up the back tonight, come on the tomorrow firing, and also remaining positive?
ADAM SCOTT: No, I'm positive. It's just I think you can't come out and think you're going to just fire at pins and get away with it.
I mean, I watch a guy in my group make tons of birdies but he made tons the doubles. I think he's going to make the cut which is remarkable because he was nine on 10 over at one point today.
It's out there if you're willing to do it, but the cost for making an error is huge. And when they're not that easy to come by, doubles are really hard to claw back. Takes you a lot of holes.
Q. What did you hit into 15?
ADAM SCOTT: 7.
Q. You were talking yesterday about the balance between staying patient and then at some point needing to hit the gas I guess. What happens when you feel like you haven't stepped on the gas? Can you even do that here?
ADAM SCOTT: Well, it's tough. I mean, it's really the pin positions, you know, you can take advantage of. You still got hit good shots to those pins where it feeds to.
So a bit of momentum and unexpected putts go in and birdie those feeder pins, and all of a sudden you've got a round going. It's not really like just all out attack, fire at everything. You can use -- the course can help you, but you've got to hit a great shot.
Q. You like the way the course is playing now?
ADAM SCOTT: I do. Yeah, I do. I love seeing it like this, especially with a little more movement in the fairways than we've seen in previous years. Just got to be a little more precise off the tee. I think holes like seven you kind of really have to be left center to not get blocked down the right.
It just moves right behind the trees and you got nothing. I was there today. You know, holes like 14 as well. You got to just hug it a little more if you're taking driver. Got to be like up that left half. You can't leak it otherwise it runs through. So I like seeing that here.
Q. Someone was saying that the ball tends to stick on side slopes here because as pure as the fairways are they don't make them as short as they could. Does that make sense?
ADAM SCOTT: I think the fairways play generally slow here, yes.
Q. Maybe that's partly why you get more sidehill lies.
ADAM SCOTT: Oh, I see. Well, right, sure. That's fair. Yep.
