MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 10, 2026

Wyndham Clark

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Feel like this kind of golf was waiting around the corner?

WYNDHAM CLARK: Yeah. Man, I've actually played good golf this year. Like a lot of positives in ball striking, a lot of good short game shots; haven't quite got the putts in the hole and just haven't put four days together.

Yeah, I mean, it's unfortunate to see where I'm at on the FedEx and World Rankings, but I played better golf than it is. Hopefully it's starting to show.

Yeah, I mean, this is my best start thus far at Augusta and I'm just really excited to be in this position.

Q. How intentional are you when it comes to preparing shots that you think you're going to have in competition practicing on the range?

WYNDHAM CLARK: Yeah, this place probably more than most just because of some of the shapes you got to hit into the greens or off the tee. I always typically kind of do my drills to start and then the last probably 20 golf balls I'm kind of playing the holes or working shots, hitting fades, draws.

Q. Is that something you do every week?

WYNDHAM CLARK: Definitely every week. This one I think I spend a touch more time on it.

Q. On this course in particular how important is the mental game?

WYNDHAM CLARK: Yeah, probably the most. I mean, between probably the U.S. Open and the Masters you got to be really smart. You got to be really patient. You're going to make bogeys. Just try to eliminate the doubles. And also here especially you can make birdies, too. If you just hang in there you never know when your streak will come.

Q. Can you give us any examples of exercises that help you here at Augusta?

WYNDHAM CLARK: I'm always working on it. One of the things here is you look up and see where you are at, one of the most beautiful places in the country. Then also maybe sometimes looking ahead on some of the holes coming up and say, hey, I still got birdie looks, even if I just made a bogey. If If I just stay patient and keep hitting fairways you're going to have a chance to come back.

Q. There won't be a whole lot of 68s on this golf course today. What does it take to go low on this golf course?

WYNDHAM CLARK: I hope you're right. I hope there is not too many 68s. You said what does it take to go low? If you can play the par-5s under par, that always helps.

Then the biggest thing is everyone always talks about how wide the fairways are, but it's sneaky, a tough driving course. If you can hit a lot of fairways it just makes it so much easier into the greens. And then Augusta can sometimes give you some opportunities to make birdies.

You find yourself getting into a groove and you -- sometimes you shoot 6-, 7-under and today I felt like I could have done that.

But, you know, I'll take 4-under.

Q. You're always trying to have control of your mind and emotions. Is there stuff that's happening in your life that you're working on right now that's benefitting you this week?

WYNDHAM CLARK: I'm always working on it. Obviously last year has kind of been tough golf for me, but I think it's really helped me mentally to be patient and understand that golf, there is so many ebbs and flows.

Right now I feel like I'm in a great place mentally. Calm, relaxed. Yeah, so when I tee it up I feel comfortable and just go play golf.

Q. What's given you that calmness?

WYNDHAM CLARK: Gosh, I don't know. I feel like everything of the course is good. Everything relationship-wise is good. Then I get on the course there is nothing to worry about other than hitting golf balls.

Q. When was a moment today you felt you showed patience?

WYNDHAM CLARK: Probably on -- when I three-putted eight and then missed a short putt on nine. You know, I was inside fuming just because it was a chance to get to 4-, 5-under through nine holes. Then I bogeyed ten and you're like, yeah, what happened?

And my caddie, Dave, we both -- he just said, stay patient. We got birdie holes coming. Let's get back to our process. Great two shots on 11 and same on 12. Next you know, was on my way and made some birdies coming in.

That was kind of a pivotal point in the round, was between 8, 9, 10 and going forward.

Q. Fair amount of time now between your tee time tomorrow. What are you going to do to keep focused?

WYNDHAM CLARK: I mean, I'm going to go practice a little bit and then I'm not going to focus at all. I'm going to go take a nap, watch some golf, hang out, enjoy myself.

And then when I wake up tomorrow we're back in the office and I'll start focusing.

Q. A lot of guys have to stay patient when you have all these results that aren't necessarily showing the game you're trying to play.

WYNDHAM CLARK: It's hard. Sometimes I haven't stayed patient. But the good thing is having a lot of results that you don't like, you learn to get more patient and know that around the corner good golf will come.

I'm hoping this is the start of a great run of Wyndham Clark golf I know I can play.

Q. Anything you found lately in your game that's working?

WYNDHAM CLARK: I'd definitely say I've been more kind of in my circle, you know, right where I'm standing and playing, more in the process rather than looking ahead not only score-wise, but shot-wise.

Sometimes I get too worried about the outcome of the shot and then forget to do the things that helped me hit a good shot. That's probably been the biggest thing.

Q. With having a coach now, anything the coach has you doing?

WYNDHAM CLARK: Yeah, Pat has helped me a ton. Swing-wise I was getting really long and too much lag coming into the golf ball. It was really hard to time it. We've gotten a little bit shorter, wider, and that's made me more for sure consistent off the tee and a lot more control into the greens.

Q. A lot of guys are talking about the difficulty of the golf course and the conditions. How would you describe it and how hard do you expect it to get?

WYNDHAM CLARK: Yesterday was very challenging. Super firm right as we started. This morning kind of throughout the whole day wasn't as firm as yesterday. I know we went off in the morning; typically it's softer.

I think as the tournament goes on, I mean, these greens are going to be concrete. Obviously getting really fast without the wind, so it's going to really matter hitting it in the fairway and the angles and being patient.

So this will be a really fun weekend.
