MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 10, 2026

Ethan Fang

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. (Off microphone.)

ETHAN FANG: I didn't have my best out there. Started off pretty rough. Number three I three-putted from four feet, so that's not a great way to start your round out.

But it was good. I mean, I battled throughout. Middle way through the round played pretty solid. Hit a couple crooked drives towards the end and just made a couple of bogeys.

Overall, I didn't have my best today, but I gave it all I had.

Q. What did you take away from the week? It was a great experience.

ETHAN FANG: Yeah, it's really cool. If you told me ten years ago I would be playing in the Masters at 20 years old, I wouldn't believe you at all. Yeah, it's just really cool. It's just such a special event. They treat you so well here. Everything about it, it's been great.

Q. Is this the hardest -- the most difficult course you've ever played? What makes it such a challenge?

ETHAN FANG: I don't know about most difficult golf course, but obviously it's really hard. You just got to be -- you just got to hit your shots. You can't really, you know, lack at all. Just got to keep your mind sharp, and you've got to stay in it every single shot, or one bad swing could lead to a double easily.

Q. What's one thing you learned about the golf course this week and one thing you learned about yourself?

ETHAN FANG: Yeah, I mean, one thing I learned is, I mean, obviously I knew it was pretty hard already, but it's harder than I thought. Greens are quicker than I thought, too.

One thing I learned about myself, just that if I play good, I can somewhat compete. If I just made a couple of putts the first round, would have played pretty good. A couple of loose drives, a couple of loose drives caught me today. If I just clean that up, I think there's a chance.

Q. I tried to catch you Wednesday, but your practice round, you disappeared on the 17th tee. I wanted to ask you about the Crow's Nest experience.

ETHAN FANG: Yeah, it was cool. Stayed there Monday night with me, Mason, and Mateo. Honestly the tradition, how all the amateurs stay there, it was cool. It's a little small, but it was fun, yeah.

Q. How many family members or friends do you have? Your teammates were here earlier.

ETHAN FANG: Yeah, they were here Monday, and I have my parents here, my girlfriend is here, and then Will, my caddie, he's been on the bag. I had a couple of friends come yesterday, but I didn't have enough tickets for them today, so...

Q. You've played in two majors and going back to college to play for Oklahoma State. What's something you're picking up from playing on these big stages that yourself and other amateurs can kind of put into your collegiate and amateur careers that still helps them in that journey?

ETHAN FANG: Yeah, it's definitely a lot of nerve-wracking out here. You know, I think it's honestly all the same. You just got to -- when you come out here, especially for a first-timer, you just kind of have to settle yourself in. You know, the golf courses we play in college golf are -- you know, some can be just as hard.

Like last week at Meridoe, it's blowing 30, greens are firm, and honestly it's all hard.

I think that's just the biggest thing, just making sure you're not too nervous out here and just playing your game. Because, you know, college golf is getting really good now, and I think, yeah.

Q. How important is it too for amateurs and college players to kind of test themselves on these stages so that it will help them as they kind of find their maturation process before they turn professional?

ETHAN FANG: Yeah, it definitely helps a lot getting to play these tournaments, majors, Korn Ferry tournaments, PGA TOUR tournaments. It's just a different feeling out here when you got, you know, thousands of people watching you. Greens are really quick.

Yeah, I mean, it's definitely good to gain some experience before. It helps a lot, especially playing The Open last year helped with this week a little bit, but clearly not enough (smiling).

Q. Is the re-entry going to be a little tough going back to college golf, carrying your own clubs, putting your clubs in the van, and coach telling you we're getting up at 6:00?

ETHAN FANG: Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm excited to go back to playing 36 carrying myself.

Q. Food might be different, too.

ETHAN FANG: Food is different. Everything is a little different. It's great. I'm excited to go back, hang out with my teammates and go on trips with them again.
