Quick Quotes
Q. First, overall thoughts on your round?
BRIAN CAMPBELL: A struggle. A little bit of a grind today didn't get off to the best start on two. Unlucky being left a little bit, but yeah, just hung in there. Then gave myself as many birdie looks as I could coming in and tried to make a few.
Q. Did you finish even par?
BRIAN CAMPBELL: Yes.
Q. So you'll be around for the weekend.
BRIAN CAMPBELL: Should be.
Q. What does it mean to you to compete in two consecutive Masters?
BRIAN CAMPBELL: It's special. I really didn't see this being a place that I would like to play, but I think I just love, you know, the patrons here, the atmosphere. I think the course, too, around the greens and stuff. I just love getting creative, so I think it tailors to me.
Q. I think yesterday you talked about you feel like you were playing defensive.
BRIAN CAMPBELL: Yeah.
Q. Were you able to be a little more aggressive today, or was it more defensive?
BRIAN CAMPBELL: I think you're going to play defensive around this course every time you play it, so it's hard to be aggressive, but you know, the days where you get uphill putts, you can kind of go after it a little more.
Being over par early on you're still playing kind of defensive, but, you know, once I started to hit some fairways and hit some greens, I think I got a little more confidence.
Q. Third main cut this year. Do you feel like the game is headed in the right direction? It's turning the corner kind of thing.
BRIAN CAMPBELL: I've actually seen some good progress made even through some of the missed cuts I've had. Been going through a lot of changes physically, I would say, and so, you know, definitely has not been the year I've wanted, but I've need to do make some necessary changes.
Q. How critical is it to capitalize on those par-5s on 2, 8, 13, and 15? How critical is that?
BRIAN CAMPBELL: Oh, it's very critical. You come out and bogey two. Everybody is birdieing it or eagling it. You're really behind the 8-ball early on. You can really get off to a hot start or a cold start. It's one or the other.
Yeah, if I can just get my wedges on the par-5s, get some looks there, that's kind of what I'm looking for.
Q. Through the first two days what have you learned from the first few days that you're going to be able to carry into the weekend how the course is playing this year specifically?
BRIAN CAMPBELL: Yeah, I think a few of the greens are new, so they play a little differently. So you've just got to be a little conservative with your shots. The greens are going to get firm, and so you really got to just understand where to be. You can hit a good shot and then just end up around the green somewhere. So putting and short game is going to continue to be bread and butter, so just hammer that.
