Q. Cam, you got the momentum with that great chip in at 16. Obviously disappointing bogey, bogey finish.

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, no, kind of scratched it around today. Wasn't my best stuff for sure, and it was nice to see that one go in.

I was kind of thinking, all right, could be away here with the putt around. Hit a great drive down 17, and, yeah, just hit it over the back there where you can't. Hit a half decent shot actually.

Yeah, so couple quick fives just like that. This place can do it to you.

Q. With 16, this place is only going to get a lot harder. See how dry it is already. That type of play, the scrambling is going to come into it. You're only six, seven back.

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I'm definitely not out of the tournament. You know, like I said it was scratchy today but I feel like I did a pretty good job of getting the most out of it.

Made a really kind of crappy bogey on 13. Was in a really good spot. Made bogey there which hurt a little bit.

But other than that, you know, just got the most out of my round. I didn't feel that great. It was bad to be honest.

I did a good job hanging in there, so still in the tournament.

Q. How much do you have to focus on you relative to the lead rather than what you shot here? That's probably the more important thing, right?

CAMERON SMITH: Yeah, I mean, for sure you're here to win. You always want to know what lead is. I've left myself with some hard work to do over the next three days, but I've played well round here before.

I think back of some memories and some good times, and yeah, I still feel like I can do it. Just needs to be way better than today. It was just scratchy.

Q. What do you need it tighten up for tomorrow and how confident do you think you can do that?

CAMERON SMITH: You know, I'm hitting the ball great on the range. Spoke to you about this earlier in the week. I know I'm going to go over there this afternoon and hit five balls and be like, where was this all day?

So just one of those things I think with my game at the minute. I'm just not quite taking it to the golf course, I guess second guess myself on a few swing thoughts and shots out there early in the round and just kind of, yeah, didn't -- wasn't really on the front foot ever today.

Yeah, just needs to be better than that. You know, I don't know what else to say. It is what it is at the moment. I'm kind of trying to laugh it off a little bit.
