MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 8, 2026

Adam Scott

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. You've been coming here a long time. You've won here. Are your emotions on the eve of the Masters as exciting as the fans'?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah. For sure. Actually, this is quite a nice little break from what happens over there at the big course and how you usually feel on a Wednesday before a major.

I have to say, like the last couple of hours being with Byron out here, and the other guys in the group as well, has just been quite relaxing, to be honest, because it's stressful.

We know what's ahead for the next few days, and kind of to step away from that stress has been quite nice, actually.

Q. What are you anticipating the next few days from this golf course?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, it's just looking so good. It's the way I like to see it. It's getting firmer and likely getting faster as well. And the weather looks perfect. So it's going to be play well and have a good score kind of stuff this week, and I think there's going to be a lot of excitement.

Q. A fast, firm golf course; does that fit into your temperament as a player?

ADAM SCOTT: It's good for me. I like fast greens. And I think at this point or stage in my career some varying conditions on the ground is good for me as well, on the experience of playing here and having seen a few things.

And certainly I think growing up in Australia we're used to hard, fast golf courses.

Q. How optimistic are you about your opportunities this week?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah. It's exactly that. It's a great opportunity for me. I've been playing well. I do feel comfortable out there. Really, if I pinpoint one thing over the season so far, I just haven't put four great days together on the greens. So this will be a great time to do it.

Q. Adam, what was the theme of your speech last night at the dinner? I was told that you spoke a little.

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah. I didn't really have anything prepared. It wasn't planned. So I don't know if there was a theme at all. But I just spoke about the first time I played with Rory, flashed through his journey and just felt like I think all the champions were watching him trying to win last year, hearts up in their throat living every bit of it with him because they've all gone through something like that.

And Rory spoke so well and expressed what it means to him. And I just felt like it was nice to acknowledge that, that we share that with him, and proud to have him in the Masters club.

Q. When was the first time you played with him?

ADAM SCOTT: I played with him, he was still an amateur in the Qatar Masters in 2008. Just before he turned pro, I think.

Q. '07, I think. 2007. Played Walker Cup in '07 and turned pro shortly after, right?

ADAM SCOTT: Maybe it was --

Q. Actually, no, you're right. Beginning of 2008. What do I know?

ADAM SCOTT: It would have destroyed my speech if you were right. Anyway, that's how I remember it. It was a good story.
