MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 7, 2026

Max Homa

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. What word or phrase would you use to describe the challenge of Amen Corner?

MAX HOMA: That's a really good question. I think if it's windy, you could almost say like it's pretty random. Like it's a lot of -- you're guessing.

When it's calm, the challenge would just be to execute if it's calm.

I mean, they're obviously difficult golf shots. But I think a bit of creativity on 11 and 13, and then 12 you just gotta hit a good shot.

But, yeah, it depends the conditions.

Q. With the conditions this week, what's going to be the most challenging part of those holes, besides the wind?

MAX HOMA: I just think execution. I think this year we'll have a better chance to get to 13 in two. I think everyone will have an opportunity now.

I like it better when everybody can reach it because I think it brings 7s and 3s into play, more 6s into play. So I think it'll just be executing a ball way above your feet.

When 12 is calmer, it really is just -- you gotta -- it's such a brilliant hole for righties because the pull is so bad and a wipe is so bad, and that's our two misses. So if you hit a good shot, looks like nothing.

So I just think with this week, with the way the conditions look like, I think if you can kind of commit to your shots and execute close to 10 out of 10, you'll go through them pretty easy.

Q. For those of us who can't get all the way back to 13 tee box or 12 green and experience sort of the quiet, the calm in the eye of the storm, what's it like sitting on that tee box? What do you see? What are you thinking and hearing as you get ready for that tee shot?

MAX HOMA: You hear nothing. That's the beauty of it. You said it. It's peaceful back there. It's kind of like my favorite place in the world of golf is 7 tee at Pebble Beach. You're kind of sunk a little lower than 6. You really can't see anybody unless you're looking all the way at the end of 18 green. So you're just like secluded, and I think you get that same peace there. It's pretty awesome.

Q. One more on 13. Is there a better risk-reward par-5 that you play regularly than that one?

MAX HOMA: I would say yes. The way they've backed it up, the way we've played it in off the left the last two years, there wasn't a whole lot of risk. You just hit it right and then lay it up.

So I think when I first played here and it was shorter, I would say yeah. Hopefully we got the conditions where more guys can go for it this year, because then I'd say yeah.

It's such -- the second shot, at least, the tee shot is very hard, but the second shot is staring you right in the face, and no one is going to lay up with a 4-, 5-iron, but the shot is really hard. And, again, it's perfect for righties. So like a pull doesn't do you any good and a wipe is in the creek.

So it is. It's brilliant in that it's so inviting, and I think that's the genius of risk-reward holes. And, again, hopefully everyone can kind of get up by the green in two this year so that you'll see more of that risk-reward thought process.

Q. Thanks. Play well.

MAX HOMA: Thank you. Have a good day.
