MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 7, 2026

Patrick Cantlay

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. First impressions, Patrick? How do you see the course and your game?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I think the course is in the best shape I can remember it in recent years. Looks like we're going to get good weather this week so expect it to be really firm and fast.

My game feels like it's coming around and trending in the right direction so looking forward to the week.

Q. I don't know if inspiration, but shots that you remember, especially from playing here, especially on a weekend or a Sunday, what kind of shots do you remember?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, it seems like every year you see and get in some of the same spots, so see the same shots and same hole locations over and over again, which I think is one the fun things about this place.

You know, draw on all the good memories and good shots I've hit here in the past.

Q. Patrick, you've been around here a couple times now. What is your assessment of the value of Amen Corner? Are those holes more important? Do you take them as a set or as individual? What is your approach now playing here for a couple years?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, definitely treat them all individually. I think a lot of it depends on hole location and also wind direction.

I think you can get 12 if it's really quiet and it can feel like a good birdie opportunity. Then you can get it on Sunday if it's a little windy and you're just looking to make a par. So I think it changes day to day based on weather and hole location maybe more than other parts of the golf course.

Q. As you've played here for the last few years, has your approach to those holes changed either strategically or sort of how you approach them or what kind of shots you want to hit?

PATRICK CANTLAY: I don't think so. The biggest change is just that 13 is so much longer now. Felt like you could get there in two in a lot of different weather conditions and now unless you have no wind or a little downwind, it's hard to get there in two just because you can't get -- or I can't get it out far enough to get back around the corner.

The trees even on the left are kind of in the way. Other than that I would say my strategy for those holes is relatively the same.

Q. Talked about 13 and how they moved the tee box back. It's a unique part of the course where it's the only place without patrons, cameras, away from the buzz. Do you treat that as a get your mind right, reset, take a deep breath if you can with the quiet and the seclusion back there?

PATRICK CANTLAY: I don't feel like I treat it much different than any other part on the golf course. It is a little more peaceful and quiet like you say back there though.

Q. How your game is trending, we get to the majors and everything changes. How do you reset and how do you see this as a completely different challenge?

PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, this is a golf course that have a lot of experience on, and so drawing on those experiences, I've played really well around here and had some really nice rounds, so try and put them all together in one week.
