Quick Quotes
Q. How has the Masters helped encourage the growth of golf in Asia?
SUNGJAE IM: This is one of the prestigious tournaments in the world and for Asian younger kids, and it was a dream for me to play in this tournament. And in my first appearance at the Masters, I came second and it brought up that maybe Asian people can win. So I think the younger people can get more confidence.
Q. What is it about your game that seems to play so well here?
SUNGJAE IM: On this course, I think that you need to be very accurate with my distances and direction. And so when I'm on my game, I think that I'm accurate and I can control the ball. So that suits me around here.
Q. And what would it mean to have the green jacket to put on your shoulders?
SUNGJAE IM: Justine imagine about what you said gives me the chills. It would be one of the best things for me, for my entire golf love. I love this tournament so much, I love the green now. My favorite color is green, the Masters green. For this tournament is the one that I want the most.
Q. You play a lot of iconic par-3s on Tour. What makes 12 and 16 fun and exciting all in one?
SUNGJAE IM: The picture that I see on the hole, I love the hook of the hole, the scene of the hole. And for all the players, any of the players, if a player puts it on the green, they will be happy on that hole. It brings out a lot of numbers, high numbers and low numbers. So that's why I like that.
Because this is one of the tournaments that we've played every single year. So everyone has seen those holes so many times and I think that's why they can feel the hole more, and to play on the hole is a different feeling as well. The 16 is tough as well and the final pin placement makes it a bit tough. And the right pin, all the different situations that come up on the hole, that's why I like the hole.
Q. How old were you when you first watched this tournament? Who engaged you? Which player did you follow and like to watch?
SUNGJAE IM: Tiger. My first watch? 10 years old. Of course, the red color, Tiger.
Q. You have to get up very early in Korea to watch: How do you like Sugarloaf?
SUNGJAE IM: Good.
Q. Play well this week.
SUNGJAE IM: Thank you.
Q. Hope to see you in the interview room.
