MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 7, 2026

Harris English

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Harris, how was your round?

HARRIS ENGLISH: It was great. Good nine holes out there.

Q. How it Mason doing out there?

HARRIS ENGLISH: He's doing good. I can try to tell him my experiences around here, but it's hard for me to put myself in his shoes at 18 years old. I couldn't imagine playing in this when you're a senior in high school. It just wasn't aligned.

But he's doing well. He's hitting the ball well. You just gotta control your emotions, and he's going to be nervous on the first tee like everybody else. That's what he's gotta realize, that everybody is going to be nervous out there. Just gotta keep your emotions in check.

And he's got the game for it. So I'm looking for big things this week. Making the cut out here would be big for him, and I think he can definitely finish low amateur.

Q. You've had a couple go-arounds around here. As a three-hole stretch, what do you think of Amen Corner?

HARRIS ENGLISH: I mean, some of the best in golf. 13 is the most strategic par-5 that we play all year. 12, one of the most iconic par-3s in the world.

From an outsider's perspective, it doesn't look that hard. You put a lot of professional golfers with 150-yard shot, we should be able to get it in there pretty tight every time. But it's just a really awkward shot, really tough shot, and the wind can swirl there, and it just makes it really difficult. Makes it very uncomfortable.

11 is one of the toughest holes out here. You gotta smash a drive, and then one of the most daunting second shots on the whole course.

Those three holes you can play it in 3- or 4-under or you can play in 3- or 4-over pretty quick. It's just a massive swing right there at the start of the Back 9 that can really set the table for the tournament.

Q. Were you and Seth able to impart any advice to Mason about how to play those holes? I know he's played before out here.

HARRIS ENGLISH: Yeah. Mostly on 13, kind of where to lay up, if you don't have the number you're looking for on that second shot, where to lay up to certain pins.

I mean, the other holes, I mean, 12, just kind of telling him like just play it over the middle of the bunker, not to mess with that back right pin.

But I'm sure he's watched this tournament a lot and has seen the good and the bad from all those different holes, and I mean, he's one of the top players in the country. So I know he can manage his way around this golf course.

And he's got a good buddy on the bag, who's a high-level golfer as well. So I feel like they can figure it out. Just mostly how the course changes throughout the week, how the course changes on the weekend, just getting firmer and faster, and just makes having to control those shots even more imperative.
