MASTERS TOURNAMENT

April 6, 2026

Collin Morikawa

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Can you walk us through how you're feeling right now?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, the honest truth is I'm taking it day by day. It's not exactly where I want to be, and it's unfortunate, but that's just the body, and I can't push it. It's been a little bit of a mental battle, I think, just trying to trust with where it's at. The back actually feels fine. It's just other parts of the body not cooperating a little bit how I want.

Q. How much have you been able to practice?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, I've been hitting balls for the past week, so I ended up pulling out of have letter owe last week and was able to hit balls and continue to play.

But there's a comfort level, and this isn't a place where you want to be uncomfortable, but sometimes you've got to find other ways to get around a golf course.

So I'm kind of, you know, making a different game plan than I think I've come up with in the past.

Q. Can you give us a little insight how you do that?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, some shots that you might be able to hit in the past, you might not be able to hit right now. But yeah, it's a work in progress. But each day just staying positive, trying to get through it.

Q. Your back, is it muscular, structural?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: I've had MRIs and I've gotten things done. Nothing worse than what it's been. I've gone through issues before and will be able to get out of it.

Q. How hard is that to put out of your mind when the time comes to commit to making a good golf swing?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, it's very difficult. Not to pick on anyone, Mark and I were just talking about it, but Bailey last week at the ANWA -- I had never gone through this. I had hurt myself before and never had to worry about swinging on the golf course because a lot of the stuff I had done -- I hurt myself in the gym.

When you hurt yourself swinging, it's a completely different beast of itself because you just don't know. There's a little bit of a commitment, trust.

The mind is a very strong thing, though, and a very strong part of your body. Positive mindset, the right thoughts, be able to get through and figure it out.

Q. Can you summarize, especially considering you've been playing well, how frustrating this is?

COLLIN MORIKAWA: Yeah, it's frustrating, but at the same time, I can't do anything stupid and push my body in a way it doesn't want to do. What's amazing is chipping and putting still feel great. The putter feels amazing. Just got to be able to get the ball there, which like the opposite of how I've been, I think, my entire career.

It's just part of it. I think however and whenever I get out of this little back stuff and body stuff, just go out and trust the things that I've been doing, and hopefully they click again.
