Quick Quotes
Q. Andrea, just talk to me about the emotions and feelings right now. You started the day a little bit of a ways from the top, ended up finishing solo second. What's the feelings right now?
ANDREA REVUELTA: I'm really proud of myself. It was a very nice round. I had a lot of fun.
I'm really happy. Words can't describe today's round actually. I'm losing the words. But I'm just really proud of myself and everything I did, everything I did to get to here, this tournament. I'm so happy to have enjoyed the round, ups and downs. I did three birdies at Amen Corner today; that was amazing. Having to get a front-row seat for Maria's win, she's an amazing player and an amazing golfer, and I'm really happy for her.
Q. Talk to us about those three birdies on Amen Corner. Notorious for their difficulty, but for you to do that, what did that speak to about your preparation coming into today and how good you were feeling out there?
ANDREA REVUELTA: Yeah, I mean, I did a bogey on 10; I three-putted. Then I was like, I thought I was kind of losing the tournament, like being in the mix. But anything can happen in golf. I didn't expect to birdie -- Alex was saying, my caddie, was like, who would have said teeing off 11 you would have birdied the next three holes, and it's true.
I did an amazing putt on 11 that I almost holed out on 12, and I did an amazing birdie on 13. I think it takes a lot to also play with everything because some people -- one of my goals also for the tournament was just to play with heart and be aggressive and give it my all, and that's what I did. It turned out great, to be fair. I'm just emotional for the whole tournament. It's a lot. It's an intense week, and I'm very happy.
Q. Is it something about Augusta that makes you more emotional, this place?
ANDREA REVUELTA: Yeah, it's amazing. Today I played with chills in my body the whole 18. There were putts, obviously first tee, but then during the round, everything you do -- I hit amazing shots on 9, also on the par-3, on 6, and just the crowd, how they lift you up and how they live the moment, it's just great. It's just a pleasure to be here and to enjoy this golf course, and the crowd is another player itself.
It's so fun to have everybody supporting and supporting women's golf and Women's Amateur golf, too. I think it's very inspiring, and it makes us feel so special and have so much more energy to practice in our day-to-day.
I was in the 18th green, and I had finished -- well, I was about to make my last putt, and Alex, my caddie, went to me, like, take it all in and remember this for the moments you're feeling down and remember this feeling for when you don't feel like practicing. It is all worth it, and I'm so happy to be here.
Q. You touched on that moment, sort of encapsulating, I belong here and this is my stage. I'm curious, where will this moment right here propel you to in the future?
ANDREA REVUELTA: Yeah, well, it gives me so much energy to just continue playing and doing what I'm doing and the life I'm leading. I'm really happy, and it takes me places like here. Just gives me so much hope and confidence that what I'm doing is the right thing to do.
Winning this tournament takes a lot, and it does take a little bit of magic and some things that escape your hands. Today was Maria's day. But being in the top 5 and being up there every single tournament is something that's totally under your control, and I'm just proud of myself for being there every single week and just fighting and doing my best.
Q. Off the course, you're rocking Tiger Woods' brand. Talk to me about what it feels like for the women's collection to come out. What's it like?
ANDREA REVUELTA: Well, look, I think I look great (laughing). Yeah, I think it's so cool having Sun Day Red on your shirt and having Stanford on the other. It's a perfect mix. It can't get any better. I'm so thankful for Tiger Woods and the whole Sun Day Red team for making this happen because it is a new thing. I'm really happy, and I really hope that the support continues. I'm really thankful for being able to carry the name and Stanford's logo. I hope I did it everything it deserves.
I feel great in these clothes, and I feel very nice, and it helps me to play better, so I hope this continues and I get to rock these clothes a little bit more.
Q. Can you run through your emotions on No. 12?
ANDREA REVUELTA: Yeah, I was like -- I think I had 132 meters to carry that bunker and 140 to the pin, 138, and the wind was swirling. Yeah, I was just like, I'm feeling good about this shot. I was like, one meter left of the pin because I was feeling really confident, and the ball leaves the club face, and I'm like, it's perfect, go, go, it's going to go in, it's going to go in, I can't believe it, and then it lips out, and I'm like, oh, my God. It would have been so nice.
Actually when I birdied 11, I told my caddie when I was over the putt, I was like, what if I do birdie-birdie-birdie Amen Corner. That would be insane. And it happened, so I'm just really happy.
