Quick Quotes
Q. Big push today, much better. What happened?
KIARA ROMERO: I think everything was just flowing really smoothly out there. I was being pretty aggressive and hitting all the targets that I wanted out there. I think it all just came together, made a lot of birdies and only one bogey, I think. Pretty solid.
Q. Now if you have to compare this with previous experiences, what would you say about what happened here this week?
KIARA ROMERO: I just felt super comfortable out there, and I think I just went out there with the mindset of trying to make as many birdies as I could. Obviously I had nothing to lose. I was seven back coming into today. Yeah, just went out to be super aggressive and just get as many birdies.
Q. Talk a little bit about the work with your sister. She's been like a coach a little bit. How does it work for the two of you?
KIARA ROMERO: Yeah, we're super close. We've always been really close growing up, and she knows my game better than anyone else. We've played golf together since I was like six years old. She also plays professional golf, as well. She's on the Epson Tour, so she has a lot of knowledge and knows my game really well, so we're out there having fun, not taking anything way too seriously. We're out there being competitive and having fun at the same time. I think it works really well.
Q. When things get tough, what does she do for you?
KIARA ROMERO: Kind of just take my mind off things by talking about something completely random that has nothing to do with golf. I think that just keeps me very grounded and present in the moment and not trying to worry about anything that happened in the past or the future.
Q. I think we need an example of the random things you talked about.
KIARA ROMERO: Honestly, I think she just kind of says a bunch of random stuff. I can't think of anything right now off the top of my head.
Q. What are your plans now? What comes next for you?
KIARA ROMERO: Back to Oregon for a couple weeks and then back to playing tournaments and just traveling around, same ol'.
Q. Talking about family, your brother is in the team, too. The whole Romero family is involved in Oregon.
KIARA ROMERO: Yeah, my brother plays on the men's team. We went in as the same year. I skipped a grade, and he took a gap year, so we're both juniors this year, and right now the three of us all live in Oregon and we practice at the same course and the same facilities. We work out together. Yeah, I feel like the three of us are all best friends, so we wanted to have a couple years at college together, and it's been amazing. We've been able to push each other to be the best player out there and compete with each other and just have fun.
