AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 3, 2026

Arianna Lau

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Tell us a little bit about the difference between last year and this year coming to Augusta.

ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, it's definitely such an honor to compete at ANWA for the second time; and this year after, like, last year's experience and after a year of, like, training and preparing, I just felt so much more confident compared to last year.

This year the first two rounds I just really believed in myself, and I stayed patient and stayed confidence in my game. I'm really glad it worked out.

Today is just, like, the practice round was amazing. It's just so amazing to be able to take everything in. I know that I really enjoy the round tomorrow.

Q. I wonder, last year you played here on Friday. It was a practice round. You were not going to play on Saturday. Today you practiced here, and you are in contention tomorrow. So what changes about your practice round? What things do you do today that you wouldn't -- you didn't do last year?

ARIANNA LAU: Yeah, last year I was just so in awe of the course and the entire experience. I just tried to enjoy it last year, but it was also a motivation for me because this is, like, one of my favorite tournaments, and it's just so meaningful to be able to make the cut and play with the best amateur golfers in the world in the final round.

That was my goal for this year, and I'm glad that I made the cut and I'm able to play the final round. So today I just tried to, like, be more strategic about the practice round because this course is really tough. It's really important to know where all the good misses are and to be familiar with the greens, so yeah, I focused on that today.

Q. With your game now and how you are playing, what would be your strengths in this golf course, and what are things that worry you a little bit?

ARIANNA LAU: My strength is my consistency with my swing, so I can hit it pretty straight. I will look over the course again and just reflect and see, like, off the tee and onto the greens where to hit, know where the best miss is. Yeah, that's really important.

So I will just stick to my game tomorrow, yeah.

Q. You'll be sticking to the same caddie that you've had the first two rounds?

ARIANNA LAU: Yes, my mom is my caddie.

Q. Oh, really?

ARIANNA LAU: She's caddied me ever since I was a junior golfer. So, yeah, I dedicate everything that I achieved in my golf career, I dedicate it to her, because without her, I wouldn't be here.

Yeah, I'm just so excited to enjoy the last day with her tomorrow on the course.

Q. Is she a golfer too?

ARIANNA LAU: Well, when we start playing, we learned it together, but she, like -- she knows my game very well, and she does the caddie job very well, yeah.

Q. What's the secret formula of having your mom as a caddie? What are things that she tells you that other caddies wouldn't tell you?

ARIANNA LAU: I think it's just like a mother and daughter pairing is very special because there's, like, an additional love and trust between us. Yeah, after every shot, good or bad, she encourages me, yeah.
