Quick Quotes
Q. How was your round this morning, Avery?
AVERY WEED: It was great. Yeah, I had my assistant coach who is caddying me, and then my Augusta caddie was great. Got a lot of good work in.
Q. Is it different this time around knowing you're competing tomorrow?
AVERY WEED: Yeah, definitely different. The last time I kind of just had fun out there, and this time obviously getting a lot of strategy work in and getting a feel for the greens.
Q. Has it been good having Kendall caddie for you?
AVERY WEED: It has.
Q. Since she's played in this event?
AVERY WEED: Yeah, that definitely has helped. Especially last year she was able to help me a lot with strategy and stuff around. Then this time just having her and having my own experience from the last time has been big.
Q. Did you do anything differently this year other than shoot a lower score?
AVERY WEED: I think I was just a lot more comfortable out there, just from my experience. Yeah, just made a lot more birdies out there and didn't make a lot of mistakes.
Q. So does it help to have a year under your belt here?
AVERY WEED: Oh, for sure. It's definitely a big deal to have been out here before.
Q. Can you describe the dynamic between you and Kendall on the golf course? Does she calm you down or pump you up and settle you?
AVERY WEED: Yeah, she definitely calms me down. We kind of joke around a lot, so it's just kind of a calming presence there. Yeah, she's just good at keeping me kind of even keel for the week.
Q. During a round, do you talk at all about technique, or is it really just course management and keeping your wits?
AVERY WEED: No, pretty much fully course management. Yeah, and then just kind of keeping the emotions together and stuff like that, but yeah, mainly strategy and stuff like that.
Q. Is there anything about your game that you think is particularly suited for this golf course?
AVERY WEED: I think if I can go out there tomorrow and really play to my strengths, which is kind of length and accuracy off the tee, hit a lot of fairways and put myself where I have some wedges in there, I think that will really help.
Then my speed on the greens is typically pretty solid, so I think that's a pretty good combination out here.
Q. Does she know the greens pretty well here?
AVERY WEED: Yeah, I think so. I usually -- I tend to read greens myself, so we'll see. If I need her help, I'll definitely ask her, because I feel like she's got it pretty good.
