AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 2, 2026

Vanessa Borovilos

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Just talk to me about your round today. How do you think you did?

VANESSA BOROVILOS: It was definitely a bit more of a battle than yesterday. I feel like yesterday came very easy, but today, had a couple rough shots. I topped one off the tee on No. 15, I think that was, or 16. I haven't done that in a while. So that was kind of a shocker.

But I feel like I brought myself back to the ground on the back nine and was able to make some good five-footers for par. But overall today, I feel like I did well with what I had. So it was good.

Q. And first time here at this tournament. Just talk to me, is it what you imagined? Is it more than you imagined?

VANESSA BOROVILOS: I think how pure the course is it's way more than I imagined. I mean I know Augusta and Champions Retreat is built for a tournament like this, but like you come here and you start playing the course, start putting on the greens, and it's just so pure. I've told all my friends that.

But I mean, the way they have the tournament set up, it's like a full championship course, and I think we all just enjoy being here this week, even my caddie and my parents.

Q. With this tournament being arguably one of the best in terms of Women's Amateur golf, did you have any preconceived notions coming into it that either changed once you actually started playing on the course, something that you saw that was a little bit different than you thought it was going to be?

VANESSA BOROVILOS: Your bad shots definitely need to be better. That's what I talked about a lot with my caddie. Like it's not how good your good shots are, it's how bad your bad shots are, and we've tried to limit those on the course, because you can screw yourself over a couple times here if you miss it in the wrong spot.

But, yeah, I think the iron game is very key here. And so many of these players are such good iron players, and that's why they're at the top. But I think just limiting your bad shots is definitely important in tournaments like this.

Q. And you mentioned how pure this area is. Just talk to me about it in terms of other college tournaments or other things along that nature that you've sort of played in before, comparing the two. It's a little bit different than the tournaments you've played in the past.

VANESSA BOROVILOS: I feel like the SEC Championship at Pelican Golf Club in Florida last year, that compares pretty well to this event. I feel like both courses, they manicure the greens pretty well to the point that they will run out if you're not careful. But definitely way harder than most collegiate events.

I played a tournament last week in Colonial, actually, and that was a great course to play, great prep for this event. But mostly I think this is a new experience for a lot of us, and we just gotta learn from it.

Q. And that segues well into my last question for you. Did you learn anything, either about yourself or about the Augusta National tournament, the feel, anything like that, during this two-day stop so far here at Champions Retreat?

VANESSA BOROVILOS: I mentioned this a couple times, and I actually gotta listen to my own advice more. But I think just having fun with it.

I mean, when you're -- I talked to my brother about this, too, and all my buddies, but when you're having fun with it, the game will most likely treat you well. And you don't want to give up an opportunity like this and be like stomping off the course or being mad coming up, because you never know when you're going to get to play another course like this.

So I think just enjoying the experience and looking around more, because we get so caught up in trying to do everything we need for the tournament and we don't just look around and see all the fans and like where we are in Augusta.
