AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 2, 2026

Avery Weed

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Avery, talk about your round out there today.

AVERY WEED: Yeah, it was a good round. Yesterday I had a bit easier time making more birdies, so today was a little bit more of a grind out there. Made some really good pars to kind of keep the momentum going. Yeah, felt really solid.

Q. You put yourself in great position heading into the weekend. Do you want to talk about that?

AVERY WEED: Yeah, that's really exciting just to have that opportunity to be in one of the last couple of groups. Really looking forward to it, and excited to go out there and have fun.

Q. You missed the cut last year. So kind of what are your expectations for this year?

AVERY WEED: Yeah, I mean, I have higher expectations. I feel like I'm more comfortable this year and just kind of used to the tournament and the golf course.

So, yeah, I just really want to go out there and give myself an opportunity to win on the back nine hopefully come Saturday.

Q. How did your practice round go last year? How do you think that will go into an actual tournament round at Augusta National?

AVERY WEED: Pretty good. I feel like I got used to kind of the layout of the golf course and this time can kind of just kind of confirm some of the strategy and just really focus on getting a feel on the greens.

Q. Same caddie last year that you're going to have this year?

AVERY WEED: I do have the same caddie.

Q. Who is the caddie?

AVERY WEED: It's my assistant coach at Mississippi State.

Q. Now that it looks like you'll be making the cut, what does it mean to you to not only make the cut, but potentially have an opportunity to win it all here?

AVERY WEED: Yeah, no, it's awesome. Obviously missing the cut, like, you just kind of want to make the cut the next year, but I kind of didn't want to limit myself to just making the cut and really hoped to come out here and give myself an opportunity to really place well and maybe even win.

I've put myself in that position through two days, so hopefully I can keep it up through that last day.
