ARAMCO CHAMPIONSHIP

April 2, 2026

Cara Gainer

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Shadow Creek

Quick Quotes

Q. Cara, well done; round of 69 today out here at Shadow Creek. Birdie, birdie finish. Talk us through that.

CARA GAINER: Yeah, obviously really nice to finish birdie, birdie, especially 17; such a tricky hole. You basically have to land it within one yard to keep that near the pin.

So, yeah, hit a great shot to sort of five, six feet and holed the putt.

Then 18 hit a good drive and hit it in the right spot and up and down.

Q. Obviously only one dropped shot on the card today. How pleased are you with your overall performance here?

CARA GAINER: Yeah, I think it's a golf course that kind of suits me: plot your way, very strategic in that sense; not really a bomber's kind of golf course. You have to stay patient, one shot at a time, and pick your moments to -- par is a good score round here. If you can plot 18 pars you'd probably be pretty happy as well.

Q. And how did you find your form coming into this week?

CARA GAINER: A little up and down I would say. I've got my husband back on the bag this week so that's really nice, someone familiar. Really enjoyed that round with him today.

Q. And in terms of this golf course, what do you enjoy about it and what are the biggest challenges?

CARA GAINER: As I said, it's very strategic and I think mentally it's going to be a tough four rounds round this golf course.

I think it's whoever can kind of stay present and patient and take every shot as it comes, because you can hit a good shot and be really unlucky and make bogey and you can hit a great shot and hit it close.

So it's sort of kind of depends with the luck goes where way I guess.

Q. How does it feel to have such a good start and obviously such a great field this week at a really big tournament?

CARA GAINER: Yeah, exactly. I'm really pleased with the start. I wasn't really thinking about my score. I was literally just trying to enjoy myself. I said this week I just want to have fun and enjoy this golf course because we're very lucky to be here.

This course is one of the top in the world and not everyone gets to play it. I'm really happy just to be able to play this golf course and enjoy how amazing it is out there.

Q. Just one question from me: Looking at the scores, good scores coming from the morning wave. How much did conditions change do you think for the afternoon?

CARA GAINER: I think it definitely firmed up. The greens definitely were a little trickier and the winds were swirling, particularly the back nine. Definitely picked up the last hour, hour and a half.

Yeah, so I think probably the morning greens were a little softer. Obviously wasn't out there but I felt it was, yeah, playing firm-ish like it was in the practice rounds in the afternoons.

So, yeah.
