Shadow Creek
Quick Quotes
Q. Joined by Gemma Dryburgh after her opening 69 here at the Aramco Championship. We were just talking about the conditions being a lot stiller than usual. Yeah, just how was Shadow Creek on a less windy day?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yes, I would say my description would be a lot tame err than usual. We're used to this playing really, really difficult. Rough is a lot more playable so if you misses fairways it's not so penal.
The greens a softer. Still quite firm, but, yeah, can make some birdies out there.
Q. You've played here many times before, so did that help you coming into this week knowing the course quite well?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, I think it helps a lot. Obviously playing the match play here a couple times, played it a number of times, so kind of you can play some -- away from the pins and can roll around some slopes to get near the pin.
So i some experience --and my caddie has been round a few times as well. Some experience definitely it helps round here.
Q. In terms of your own game, what were you doing so well today to make so many birdies?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Approach play and my putting was quite good. It wasn't quite good off the tee today, so I think if I sort that, could have some more chances tomorrow hopefully.
But, yeah, putted really nicely and I think that helps a lot round here, because they're firm and fast, yeah.
Q. And obviously your group was doing well, the two of you doing really well.
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah.
Q. Does that help? Does it remind you of the match play when you've got two people making birdies all over the place?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, it was fun. Obviously Jing played well as well. Nice to see some birdies roll in. Yeah, first couple holes I was like, oh, if we were playing against each other I would've been 1-down and get the hole back.
Obviously different mindset going into stroke play. You just focus on your own game. Yeah, it was good fun playing together.
Q. What will you do this evening to prepare for tomorrow?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Pick up my son when I get back. He's at the LPGA daycare, so thankful to them for looking after him. Yeah, excited to see him. And, yeah, just a nice dinner and get to early bed.
Q. As you just alluded to, one of our newest moms on Tour. How has it been adjusting to life as a golfer and a mom?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: It's been pretty good. I think we were very lucky. He's been pretty easy, so long may it continue.
Yeah, he's such a good boy. He let's us sleep pretty good. So, yeah, it's been lovely. We went to the pool with him yesterday and had a bit of fun with him. Yeah, it's great fun. Nice to come back to him after the round.
Q. And any advice you've got from other moms out here?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: Yeah, you have to use your time wisely. Time is precious. So I think my practices have become a lot more structured and a lot more kind of not wasting time as much.
So gets your practice more focused I think is the biggest thing. Obviously they give us a lot of tips of what to buy your travel and stuff, so that's been really helpful.
Q. Has it changed your mindset coming into tournaments now?
GEMMA DRYBURGH: I think so. I think like when you come back, like he obviously doesn't care or know what you've shot, so it's just nice to see him. He's smiling a lot now, so it just puts it all in perspective. It's nice to see him grow and kind of develop, even though it's only been three months now. But it's been a lot of fun.
