AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

April 1, 2026

Meja Ortengren

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Just being a part of Stanford and seeing the girls do so well today, there's three of you on the leaderboard that could be chasing that top spot, how exciting is that for you guys?

MEJA ORTENGREN: Very excited. We are super close as a team, so it's so much fun seeing people that I spend every day with up on the leaderboard, and I think we inspire each other every single day to get a little bit better.

Q. I feel like Rose was the last one of you guys to win. Always being in that top position, you have that stress on your back, do you feel like you guys are living up to that pressure almost?

MEJA ORTENGREN: A little bit maybe. I don't think we feel the pressure from day-to-day. It's more of just being happy and grateful for the team right now and how well everyone is playing. So yeah.

Q. Are you watching them on the leaderboard as you're trying to play? Do you do any of that?

MEJA ORTENGREN: When I see the leaderboards I'm trying to look for my teammates, as well, and seeing if they did well or if they are struggling a little bit.

Q. What about the commits? Do you talk to Asterisk? How does that work out for you?

MEJA ORTENGREN: Yeah, we actually had -- they were at Stanford for an AJGA event a few weeks ago, so we had a dinner with them, and now it's nice to see them talk a little bit in between holes or when we see them out here on the practice facility.

Q. She hasn't signed the paper yet, but to have her up there and represent Stanford in this way, is that something you guys are cheering her on for?

MEJA ORTENGREN: Yeah, for sure. I've played with Asterisk a few times and she's an amazing player. Even though she's going to come to Stanford, I would root for her either way.

Q. I know you're all competing for the top spot here, but who do you think did the best with their fashion sense at last night's chairman's dinner between the Stanford ladies? Was there a lot of consensus on who would be wearing what?

MEJA ORTENGREN: Oh, wow.

Q. Was there a meeting? Did Coach Walker pull a meeting together? How did you figure out who was going to wear what?

MEJA ORTENGREN: It was a decision up to every single one of them. We did not talk beforehand. I think the Spaniards have really good sense of style, so I think both of them took that first place.

Q. You're confident that you're at least at the top of that list, though?

MEJA ORTENGREN: I don't think so. They're very well-dressed, the rest of the team, so I would give it to them.

Q. You're going to beat them on the golf course --

MEJA ORTENGREN: That's my plan.
