Quick Quotes
Q. What were the feelings on the first tee?
BROOKE BIERMANN: Oh, my gosh, it was amazing. A little nerve-racking, I will say. It's an honor to be able to hit the first tee shot of the tournament, but with all those people there supporting women's golf and amateur golf is amazing to see.
It was a little foggy, but my shot ended up being in the fairway, and I asked my dad when I got back to my bag, Where did that go? I have no idea.
Q. Was it unlike any other first tee shot of your life?
BROOKE BIERMANN: No, no, I don't really get nervous for the first tee shots ever, but that one got my heart beating a little bit, but it was amazing.
Q. How would you sum up the rest of the day?
BROOKE BIERMANN: The rest of the day was great. I think I stayed patient out there. Started one over through a couple holes and then got it back rolling. My dad and I read some really got a putts and some dropped. So it was a good day, yeah.
Q. You're a first-timer. Can you talk about maybe the journey of the invite and how much that maybe weighs on you in college golf and just kind of maybe advice for other first-timers for next year?
BROOKE BIERMANN: Oh, yeah, I think every amateur golfer that's -- every girl amateur golfer dreams of getting that invite. Everyone works really hard for it, and it's always on everyone's mind.
So finally getting the invite feels amazing, and I feel like my game -- I've really worked hard on my game, and it has improved a lot. Part of it feels like a little bit of a gift to myself of, like, ah, I made it.
But it's been amazing. So far everything has lived up to exactly what you would think it is and more, so...
Q. What's the part of your game that you clearly can tell has improved that's been a benefit this week?
BROOKE BIERMANN: I would say my mental just patience out there. I've been always very patient and calm out there, but just learning how to bounce back from maybe a not-so-good shot, and that's what I felt like I leaned hard on today. It was just trying to remind myself of all the good preparation I've put in.
Q. You have a lot of experience with -- player experience in college. What was the dinner like last night? Was that pretty much at the top of the list?
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, that was amazing. Everyone there that was hosting us was so welcoming, and just I think whether you've gone here six times or the first time, it is still breathtaking when you walk through those back doors and get to look out at the finishing holes of Augusta.
It was amazing. I mean, a great way to start the tournament and something I'll never forget. Yeah.
Q. I know how important family is to you. Is there a moment where you caught your sister out there during the round?
BROOKE BIERMANN: Yeah, she probably captures every shot I have, which is good. I can look back.
But, yeah, I always look over at them, and I gain strength off of them. Yes, we're a good team, yeah. So I look over there a lot.
