AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

March 31, 2026

Amanda Sambach

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Obviously making your sixth start; what can you say about your relationship with this tournament and what it's done for your career?

AMANDA SAMBACH: Yeah, it's incredible, to be honest. To see how much I've changed over the past six years, I think, speaks a lot to how incredible this event is.

My first year here, I came in really nervous, just wanting to make the cut. Also having no expectations. Then the years followed, building my game up, being more competitive and having more expectations for myself, wanting to kind of compete for the championship.

Now potentially in my final year, kind of full circle, just wanting to make the most of this week, and obviously looking forward to spending time with some girls that I haven't seen in a while, so it's nice.

Q. How do you make sure that you soak everything in this week?

AMANDA SAMBACH: I think part of that's just connecting with people. I think that's really important for me, that maybe I haven't done so well in the past as I've been so focused on competing and making sure that I do everything prep-wise to play as well as I can. Still obviously wanting to play well, but I think especially this year, just wanting to be really present and enjoy everything.

Q. What's your favorite thing about this course?

AMANDA SAMBACH: About this course? I mean, how pure it is. Obviously the fairways are incredible. It's always in amazing shape. But I think the layout is really fun. You get to hit some pretty unique shots, which I don't get to come across very often.

Q. You had the opportunity obviously to play Augusta a lot. What can you say that's meant to you and what has that experience been like?

AMANDA SAMBACH: It's meant everything. Obviously growing up, seeing it on TV, it's always, like, wow, this place looks incredible, and obviously love to see it in person, but being there, genuinely no words really to describe how perfect it is. It's truly breathtaking, and it doesn't get any less special over the years, so I'm definitely looking forward to Friday and hopefully Saturday being able to play.

Q. What's one thing you would tell first-timers since you've had so much experience here?

AMANDA SAMBACH: I think it's tough because obviously everyone goes into a tournament a little bit differently, but if I had to tell myself as a first-timer what to do, I would probably just say, like, chill. It's okay. Just treat it like any other tournament.

Obviously Augusta National Women's Am is an incredible name and one of the most prestigious events an amateur can possibly play in, so not letting the name get to you or spook you in any way. It's just like any other tournament, and it's a great opportunity to compete against the best, so just kind of using that to your advantage.

Q. What would first-timer Amanda Sambach think of six-time ANWA participant Amanda Sambach?

AMANDA SAMBACH: Yeah, I think she'd be super proud. Obviously I made the last, I think, two or three cuts, but yeah, it was a dream of mine the first time that I played in it. I think she'd be proud. I'm really happy with where I am now. I'm not pursuing golf professionally, but to be able to be here and enjoy it one last time means a ton.
