AUGUSTA NATIONAL WOMEN'S AMATEUR

March 31, 2026

Chloe Kovelesky

Augusta, Georgia, USA

Quick Quotes

Q. Wake Forest has a lot of history here at the Augusta National Women's Amateur. This is your first appearance. What kind of information have you gleaned off of Amelia, Jennifer Kupcho, Coach? What have you learned?

CHLOE KOVELESKY: Yeah, it's really cool to have a history here, especially being at Wake right now currently. But it's really cool I have Coach Ryan on the bag this week, so I know he's caddied for some other great players here, so I'm really excited to have that under my belt. Obviously we're going to have a really good time. It's nice to have someone who's been out here before, been inside the ropes and been through it the last couple years.

Q. Has it been a challenge to put this out of your mind until the time has come?

CHLOE KOVELESKY: Honestly, I think it's something I always kept in the back of my mind, just being like, okay, obviously you prepare the same way for every event. Having a good process is really important. It's something I've worked on since I've come to college.

But I think that recently I've just been really looking forward to it. It's my first year here. So I'm really excited to just kind of be here and enjoy the experience but also come out here and compete with the best players in the world. So it's something that I've really looked forward to for so many years, so being out here and actually being here -- I was talking to Ryan today on the course, and I'm like, wow, this is really just awesome to be here. It feels so chill, just walking inside the ropes, being on the golf course. The golf course is in incredible shape. So being with Macy Pate, who's one of my best friends, is just awesome. It's just a really cool experience to be out here.

Q. Is there a difference in April poach when Coach Potter is on the bag for you for a collegiate tournament versus caddying for you? I know it's blurring a little bit of lines --

CHLOE KOVELESKY: Yeah. I mean, I think it's similar but also very different because at least out here this week he's on the bag with me every single hole versus in college events they're kind of going back and forth between players. It'll be nice -- he caddied for me at the U.S. Girls' Junior over the summer, so I know what it's like to have him on the bag, and I think we work really well together.

But it'll be really nice to have him there the whole time versus just popping in and out. Obviously in a collegiate setting you have five players on the course, so it's a really cool atmosphere just to have your teammates all around you and waving, kind of seeing everyone. But it's also nice to have a little bit of a time where it's like, okay, we're focusing, we're here, but we're all in the moment and we're in the moment together.

Q. Has anything surprised you thus far? I know the lead-up and the communication from Augusta National to the players, it's professionally done. Has anything surprised you that kind of lets you know that this tournament is really different from everyone else?

CHLOE KOVELESKY: I mean, honestly, I just think it's really cool that everyone is staying at the same hotel. Everybody is taking shuttles together, and everything is just really well-thought-out. I think that's a really unique part of this event.

Obviously we get to go to Augusta National tonight, which will be really incredible. The last time I was there was nine years ago for Drive, Chip & Putt. So I'm really excited about that. But I think just the entire tournament altogether, it's just really unique in terms of communication and transportation and just every single little piece. There's something so unique about it. Honestly, it's a great experience overall.
