Simone Bolelli

Andrea Vavassori

Miami, Florida, USA

Press Conference

BOLELLI-VAVASSORI/Heliovaara-Patten

6-4, 6-2

THE MODERATOR: Guys, congratulations. Can you both tell us how special it is to win this tournament?

SIMONE BOLELLI: Yeah, obviously we are very happy. Is a lot of emotion this week. I think me and Andrea we play unbelievable tennis this week.

We had a tricky first round where we saved two match points. We could be at home one week ago, but now we are with the trophy. So I think we raise our level step by step, match after match, and today I think we play unbelievable tennis, very aggressive. We serve really good.

Heliovaara-Patten are one of the toughest teams at the moment, so very happy with the victory, a lot of emotion. Happy for me, for my family, for our team, for Wave, he deserve it. So we go on.

ANDREA VAVASSORI: Yeah, no, it's a good feeling. When we started to play together, one of our dreams was winning one of these titles. And Simone, he won so many things in his career, but he missed this 1000. He final did it, and we did it together, so it's even more for us.

As I said in the trophy ceremony, I'm really proud of him. It's one of the toughest moments, and he played unbelievable tennis. I think it's a story to be told to other people. I think tennis is important for us, but there are things that are more important. And to dedicate this tournament to his father is one of the best things he could do in this moment.

I'm really proud of him. I think we deserve it, because we work hard and we are there for each other every moment. Really means a lot.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Congrats, guys. Great tournament. Andrea, first of all, you got the monkey off your back. Masters, you have won I think 11 doubles titles. These guys have gotten you like four in a row, including Australian Open final. You're friendly but give me a little revenge talk.

ANDREA VAVASSORI: Yeah, when we lost the third final in Grand Slams, honestly was one of the toughest moments in my career, because I think we played a great final. I posted something about revenge a few days later (smiling).

Sometimes it's sweet, but I think they are incredible team. As Harri said, we see each other every week. I think, yeah, there is a rivalry, for sure, but it's a pleasure to step with these guys. I think the generation of doubles player that is coming, it's great people.

We always say that it's like a circus. We always are together 10 months for, like, on the way, and to have good people is nice, no, to have also maybe not a friendship but always respect between us.

Yeah, it was really tough. Also two lost against them this year in two semis, but I think we are playing great tennis. So we have to keep going like this and continue.

Q. Simone, I know you brought it up about your dad. His name? And what's going on? I'm sure you're emotional about it, sorry.

SIMONE BOLELLI: Yeah, he's facing a really tough time. He has a big disease at the moment. He try to getting better, but it's tough. But he's not giving up. He's fighting. We see if he's gonna be better. But, you know, is always tough for us. We are always traveling. Don't stay many times at home.

So when these things happen, it's not easy to work with, but I have friends, I have Wave, I have a lot of people that are around me helps me. This is very important.

Q. His name and what city?

SIMONE BOLELLI: Daniele. Bologna.
