TV Interview
Q. Last week you told me you were really frustrated walking off the green on Sunday. How were you able to channel that frustration into the win here today?
MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, I think the big thing was I felt like I was playing well. I was playing well going into this week, obviously wanted to continue that and I felt like I had confidence it in myself to do so. Then obviously to sort of do that over four round was special this week.
Q. Have to ask you about the big putt on 18. 13 feet for birdie. In 11 previous times in competition you've never made birdie on 18. How were you able to get that one into the hole in this tournament?
MATT FITZPATRICK: On that hole specifically?
Q. On 18, yes, sorry.
MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, I'll be honest, it wasn't an ideal putt that I felt like. It was a nice right to leave terrible but me and my putting coach, Phil, have been working on trying to have less acceleration in my stroke, and it comes out more on the uphillers. So I wouldn't say I was overly keen on it, given my putting performance today. But yeah, to get it done like that was special.
Q. Speaking of special, you had the opportunity to have a couple special conversations before you came up here, one with your wife Katherine, the other with your parents. What did they have to say?
MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, yeah, obviously both so excited. I've not seen Katherine for three weeks, so I'm so excited to get back and see her; and my parents are coming out in a week or so as well. Yeah, it's just, it's just such special people in my life and, yeah, just so excited to share this with 'em.
