Quick Quotes
Q. What's the emotion? Kind of sum up the week.
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Yeah, look, I'm obviously disappointed finishing second, but this was the reason, all these people here, that we tried to get it here, and I think we're very proud of what we achieved by getting the tournament here. All in all, it's a week I'll never forget.
Q. Dean, what were the emotions the last two holes out there? How would you sum up the week?
DEAN BURMESTER: I'm ready for a brandy and Coke, if that's what you're asking me. I had a phenomenal week, honestly. I could never have imagined a greater week for all four of us to be welcomed like this at home. It's the greatest feeling I think any of us will ever feel.
Each of us got to tee off on this first tee here, and each of us walked off saying exactly the same thing: We couldn't feel anything. It was the greatest thing I've ever felt on the golf course. I'm just proud to be South African; that's it.
Q. You battled a bad back all week, hung in there. How would you sum up the performance?
CHARL SCHWARTZEL: Look, I'm very proud of the way I fought through it. I wasn't able to hit the driver, back was too sore, but I made the best of what I had. I tried my best.
Today the putter went a little cold on me, but these guys played amazing. The whole week, just to play in front of everybody, everybody we played with was just complimenting on how amazing this is.
At the end of the day, that was what we set out to achieve was to create this, and this actually blew out our expectations. It's just amazing.
Q. Branden, the final group, battling with Bryson. You came to 17, I'm sure you looked at the leaderboard, knew what was going on. Can you take us through those last few holes, knowing that you guys were one stroke back?
BRANDEN GRACE: Listen, it got really tough out there when the rain started coming down. Those last four holes played really tough. I was just trying to not make any mistakes. It was more of those where you're trying to push the birdies aside and trying to make the pars and not go backwards, instead of just staying where you were.
I knew then the last couple of holes it was kind of like between Bryson and myself, and he just at the end of the day made one better up-and-down than I did maybe towards the end. What a phenomenal up-and-down he made on 18.
Listen, it's one of the best weeks of my life, in my golfing career, and to be able to spend it with three of my best mates is phenomenal. You can look around, and this is exactly what we did.
Q. They've announced 2027 LIV Golf South Africa. What do you take from this week into next year?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Glad it's a little later so we don't have to deal with the rain possibly. I think the golf course will play obviously a little different, a little firmer. But yeah, we're excited.
For these guys, this was their fourth week in a row with a lot of traveling, so next year we're going to be fresh. It's going to be our first one. So we're looking forward to it.
Q. What do you take experience-wise into next year what have you learned?
DEAN BURMESTER: We've just got to be two shots better. No, I think we should just be proud, and we know what it takes. That was about as low scoring a week as you'll ever see, and we just kept the pedal down and just kept going. Hopefully we've got to do the same next year.
Q. You guys kind of ran around the 18th green, kind of clapping in each corner. That's pretty much a soccer thing. I imagine you didn't grow up thinking you would ever do that as a golfer. Did that come naturally to you? How did it feel?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: Look, since LIV started it was always a goal of ours to bring it to South Africa, and to finally have it in front of the people, we just want to show our appreciation of them. Being here -- yesterday was phenomenal. Today was great. Each day was awesome. We just wanted to show a bit of appreciation and say thank you and see the guys next year.
Q. For Dean, respectfully, I don't think the golf world has seen you like this before, thumping your chest, egging the crowd on. Did you go into this week thinking that would happen, or did you surprise yourself how much of it came out of you?
DEAN BURMESTER: A little bit of both, I think. These guys probably know me more than --
BRANDEN GRACE: He's got a suntan on the top of his head now.
DEAN BURMESTER: Yeah, I've got a bit of a tan from taking my hat off all the time. It's just something I wanted to do well for the fans and honored to show my appreciation wherever I went. It's amazing to have that kind of support, and they're shouting down the fairways and on the greens and stuff like that, and I just wanted to say thank you. That's basically what I wanted to do. The more noise they could make, the better.
Q. What does tonight look like? What do you do now?
LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN: We've been tired. Every single night we've been tired. I've been in bed at 8:30 every night, just man down.
I think tomorrow night I'll say I'll have a few drinks with them. Tonight we'll probably just spend a few more hours with the friends and family that came out. But I think we're all pretty knackered.
