TV Quick Quotes

Q. Great playing today. Can you describe the emotions and the feelings of today?

DEAN BURMESTER: It's hard. It's hard to put into words. I can tell you that first tee, I couldn't feel my hands, feet, legs. I couldn't feel a damn thing. It's just amazing, walking on that tee, they say my name, and it's just thousands of people. It's something you've dreamt of your whole life, and especially to be at home, I think it makes it better.

What a day. All four boys had a good day. It looks like all four of us scored well. I don't know what the total is, but Gracey just birdied 17. For me, honestly, I'm so proud of all the guys, and for us to be in the hunt for the team thing is incredible.

Q. Amongst the thousands of South African supporters here this week, no more important are your parents, your wife Melissa, kids Jordan and Alex. What does it mean to you, the sacrifices they've gone through and continue to do to have them here by your side?

DEAN BURMESTER: It's a tear jerker. Man, all I can say is from humble beginnings where I started, where I met my wife, playing on the Sunshine Tour and going through everything, I grew into this, what I am today, an entertainer, and I love playing in front of people, and I love golf. Without her support and without her running after the kids 24/7 now, I wouldn't be able to do what I can do. My parents, having been kicked out of Zimbabwe, having to leave, and then coming to South Africa and being adopted as a South African is just incredible. To have a whole country behind me is amazing. I'm super proud of everything. My dad is a born South African, and yeah, to be welcomed back to South Africa is incredible. Now we've got all this.

I know my parents have been crying pretty much every day, and yeah, Mel, she's amazing, she's a stalwart. She's the proper African in the family. I'm the one who enjoys too much wine.
