2026 NCAA WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Rocket Arena

Semifinals Media Conference

Landon Robideau (Oklahoma State) d. PJ Duke (Penn State), 3-1

THE MODERATOR: Welcome to the 2026 NCAA Division I wrestling championships press conference. We're joined by Landon Robideau from Oklahoma State.

Landon, can you reflect on the past couple days, your match tonight, and competing for a National Championship.

LANDON ROBIDEAU: It's been a lot of fun. It's my first NCAA, so something new. I've been in a lot of big matches before, a lot of big tournaments. I try to keep the same mindset, put on my faith, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and just try to believe.

Q. PJ Duke is having a great tournament. His first three bouts, I believe he won by a combined 36 points. He was the most outstanding performer at the Big Tens. When you saw you were going up against him here in the semis, what was the mindset going into it to be able to slow one of the more dynamic athletes in the country down?

LANDON ROBIDEAU: I was just excited to wrestle. I said from the beginning of the year, I want to wrestle the best guys in the country. Obviously PJ is one of the best guys in the country. I think from that aspect I was mentally prepared to go wrestle.

Like I said, I posted on Instagram I have the best coaches in the entire world. They put together pretty good game plans, and I have to trust and believe in them, and that's what I did.

Q. Landon, tell us in the overtime match, just walk us through what you were thinking and what the coaches were telling you during that moment.

LANDON ROBIDEAU: Obviously we were wrestling and got in a position. He had a cradle. We do it all the time in practice, wave off takedowns. I was able to keep my foot on the outside, my arm on the outside, and wrestle through my position. Get to my base. They went and reviewed it, and no takedown.

I kept my mindset straight. It didn't really matter. If I had to wrestle, I had to wrestle. It mattered to me, I wanted to win, but it didn't change anything. My mindset didn't change. I was still focused on the match, and that kind of helped me wrestle the rest of the match.

Q. Did you go into the rideout looking for a reversal that quickly or it just jumped out to you?

LANDON ROBIDEAU: Just get out fast. I remember early in the second period I got out right away, and his leg was close to my arm, and I hit a switch. I was able to catch the inside. I knew in the overtime match, reversals are big, and I can ride. I knew once I had the leg, to try to finish that and score 2 points.

Q. Jax and Sergio joined the finals. What's it like being part of that freshman class at Oklahoma State this year?

LANDON ROBIDEAU: We all want to win. We all love wrestling incredibly much. We're all really good friends. We all hang out with each other. We are all together. We're all the same mindset. We want to go kill guys and score some points. It's awesome having them by my side.

Q. Talk about your finals opponent, Antrell Taylor, your history with him, and your game plan for the match.

LANDON ROBIDEAU: Same thing. I kind of got asked a similar question after I faced Larkin. It's the same here. I want to wrestle guys I've lost to. I want to wrestle the best guys in the country. Antrell's put together a great tournament, but I know I have the tools and everything in this tournament. I'm know I'm the best guy at the weight. I want to go out there and prove it tomorrow night. So that's what I'm going to do.

Q. You along with some of your other younger teammates, do you feel you're ushering in a new era of Cowboy wrestling?

LANDON ROBIDEAU: I think this is the start of something special. Obviously last year we did really good at this tournament, but we didn't get what we wanted. We got second or third place. This year we're just looking to go and win this tournament. I know a lot of people think it's unrealistic, but you've seen how Jax wrestles, how Sergio wrestles, how I wrestle. We all believe we can win this tournament, and that's what we're kind of focused on.
