VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP

March 20, 2026

Doug Ghim

Palm Harbor, Florida, USA

Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead)

Quick Quotes

Q. 4-under, 67 today. How would you assess your round?

DOUG GHIM: Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it. Obviously I wish I would have finished a little bit better. Two bad holes doesn't really necessarily kind of ruin a good day. Two straight days in the 60s out here is always good. So I'm happy about going into the weekend.

Q. How were you able to remain calm after those two bad holes?

DOUG GHIM: I think it's just understanding that everyone's going to have holes like that. Yesterday I think watching on the coverage, guys had it going, Sungjae got it to 9, ended up falling back to 7. I think just being patient. I was laughing with my caddie, like if you told me that I was going to be 4-under through 16 at the beginning of the round, I probably would have taken it. So just trying to stay positive, stay present, and, yeah.

Q. This is your first time having two round in the 60s at the Copperhead course. What about this course is so challenging?

DOUG GHIM: Yeah, I think it's one of the few places where you just really have to be patient. You could hit a couple of good shots and maybe not quite end up with the position that you would like. Like, you could hit a drive in the fairway and it might end up in the rough. I think mentally it's probably the hardest ones that we play all year. The greens are so difficult, they get more baked every single day, and it gets windy. I think the mental battle of staying patient, sometimes out here it seems like you're never going to have a birdie putt. Yeah, I think it's definitely one of the hardest courses we play all year.

Q. Talk about your eagle on 11.

DOUG GHIM: Yeah, I hardly ever hit the 11th fairway, and I've done it two days in a row. That definitely makes it a little bit easier coming into the hole. Got lucky with a good lie near the green and then ended up chipping it in, and it ended up a pretty simple eagle.

Q. What's the game plan for the weekend now that you're in contention?

DOUG GHIM: Watch a lot of basketball, March Madness is on. But, yeah, just kind of keep doing what we're doing. It's a hard golf course, everyone's going to struggle. Then there's going to be guys that get on runs and hopefully we are one of those guys.

Q. Did you watch some of the games last night?

DOUG GHIM: A little bit, yeah, I watched all the way until with eight minutes to go, saw that we had a lead, and just kind of went to bed praying that we would win. So, yeah.
