Guido Andreozzi

Manuel Guinard

Press Conference

ANDREOZZI-GUINARD/Rinderknech-Vacherot

7-6, 6-3

THE MODERATOR: Congratulations, team, to winning your first title together. And it's a Masters 1000 title. How excited are you?

GUIDO ANDREOZZI: Yeah, really excited. It's been an amazing week for us. I think every match we were playing like better and better. Yeah, the best way to end the week is with a trophy.

It's my first 1000, and I'm really happy, and I'm really happy to share this title with Manu. Yeah, we'll keep going.

MANUEL GUINARD: Yeah, same for me. I'm really happy about all the work we have put in the last few months, and especially the last week. The week before, like, we started to think a little bit more about the doubles game really deeply, and it worked right away.

So I'm really happy about this work and ready to move forward for the next couple of tournaments.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Congratulations. It wasn't just a big win today but en route you took out Harrison/Skupski, and then you took out the top speeds, Granollers/Zeballos. Can you talk about the body of work to get to the title, how well you played over an extended period?

GUIDO ANDREOZZI: Yeah, I think we actually had a very tough draw, since the first round against Alex de Minaur and Peers. We were playing good, and we had a tough match. Yeah, after that, Cabral/Miedler, an amazing team, but we were playing better and better and better.

Yeah, we started to beat one, the other one, and yeah, I think the match yesterday was so big for us, because the first set was so tough, we had so many chances, so close, and we lost it.

But we stay in the game, in the match, and we fought back and win. Yeah, I think the whole week it's been amazing.

Q. Manu, can I ask you to expand on your comment that you have been thinking more deeply about the game of doubles? What does that mean?

MANUEL GUINARD: It means that we both come singles, so we've got the quality of the singles players, so we know to play from the baseline. And we were thinking a little bit more about the positioning, yeah, positioning at the net, positioning of the volley and stuff, you know, like all the doubles game, which was a huge plus for us this week.

And I think we did it pretty good, which, like, we could win important points in the tiebreak today in the first set and in the super-tiebreak yesterday against Granollers/Zeballos.

Yeah, this was the answer, let's say (smiling).

Q. Guido, can you speak a little bit of Manu, and how did you start to work together? How did you start your relationship on the tour?

GUIDO ANDREOZZI: Yeah, we started last year in August for the US Open. Yeah, I'm really happy to have this partnership. I think we have, like, kind of a similar play style, and we complement each other I think so well, because he's more, like, a pump guy, he has more ups, more downs also.

MANUEL GUINARD: More downs, you can say it. (Laughter.)

GUIDO ANDREOZZI: Yeah, but he brings a lot of energy to the match, to the game. Me, I'm a little bit more, like, calm and I stay more stable. So I think we complement each other well. Our games complement, as well also, very good.

Yeah, like he said, we have been working on some details in positioning, some plays that are working, and the other ones that they are not working so much.

So, yeah, we are working on small details, and I think, yeah, this week it shows up, but yeah, we will keep working and improving week by week, because I think we have a lot of potential.
