WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC: POOL B - BRAZIL VS MEXICO

March 8, 2026

Daniel Yuichi Matsumoto

Houston, Texas, USA

Daikin Park

Team Brazil

Postgame Press Conference

Mexico - 16, Brazil - 0 (6)

Q. What are the biggest lessons from this tournament for you, and what's the expectation for the future for Team Brazil?

DANIEL YUICHI MATSUMOTO: Looking back to these three games, we can see clearly that there are two groups of pitchers in our pitching team, ones that can throw in the strike zone and be aggressive and the other ones that are struggling to throw strikes.

So I think this tells us something about changes that we have to make in our training and practice, raising new talents and new pitchers to our country.

As far as the offensive, we couldn't score runs in these past two games. So this is something that we've been discussing amongst our coaching staff, and we plan to make a few changes for tomorrow.

Q. Do you expect Joseph Contreras to pitch tomorrow?

DANIEL YUICHI MATSUMOTO: It depends on how the game goes tomorrow, but we plan to use everybody that is available if necessary because tomorrow is the most important game for us. It's going to be everything on the table for the game.
