WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC: POOL A - COLOMBIA VS CUBA

March 8, 2026

Jhonatan Solano

Tito Polo

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Hiram Bithorn Stadium

Team Colombia

Pregame Press Conference

Q. How does it feel sharing the field with your brother at some of these big international tournaments?

JHONATAN SOLANO: Good morning. Thank you for the opportunity.

Great. Especially being with your brother on a team representing your country. This is an honor for us to be on the same field. So proud for his career.

This is a dream come true. This is a special moment for us, for the family, for Colombia also. I feel thankful with God for letting us enjoy this tournament and be together.

Q. Good morning. How are you managing the ninth inning with nerves and pressure? Because you've got a good team.

JHONATAN SOLANO: That's a good question. We have a good roster that has a combination of veterans and young people. We're trying to manage nerves. It's been difficult. We had a first game against Puerto Rico at home with huge fans that support their team from the first inning.

Yesterday since we lost the first game, we tried to look for victory in one way or another. It's true we say in one aspect or another, that is affecting us. That's why we're a little bit more calm, more at ease, more concentrated. Let's hope to God things come good for us to have a victory against Cuba.

Q. Tito, how is the team feeling after a couple tough losses? Do you feel like you guys can bounce back, get two more starting with today?

TITO POLO: I think that we continue to be motivated. We still have the same excitement as the first day to try to find a way to help the team to win amongst all of us. What happened happened. It's a new day, a new opportunity to do the best of yourself. Everybody knows what to do. Trust in God, and I know we'll have a good result.

Q. Tito, you practically came in as a substitute player, but you're the one who has given the best result in the outfield.

TITO POLO: Well, I am thankful to God because I never thought I would. Colombia has good ballplayers, and whoever they have is going to do the job. I never stopped practicing.

When I got the call, they told me come and have fun. That's what I'm doing. I'm having fun as if it were the last thing I can do.
