WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC: POOL C - KOREA VS JAPAN

March 7, 2026

Seiya Suzuki

Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo Dome

Team Japan

Postgame Press Conference

Japan 8, Korea 6

Q. The team pulled off a hard-fought victory today. Looking back at the game, what are your thoughts?

SEIYA SUZUKI: Well, I'm really relieved. I think we were able to win today's game because of the fans’ cheers. So thank you so much for your passionate support.

Q. You had an outstanding performance with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs/

SEIYA SUZUKI: We were behind, so I stepped up to the plate determined to make something happen. I'm glad it resulted in the best possible outcome.

Q. After falling behind 3-0 early in the game, it seemed like a tough start, but your two-run homer right after that really turned the momentum back around to Japan.

SEIYA SUZUKI: Yeah, it's the WBC, we knew the opponents would come out strong and I expected hard games like this. I'm glad I managed to hit a home run, and I want to keep pushing forward in the next game, too.

Q. In the 3rd inning, Ohtani's homer tied it up, and then your homer to the left field put us ahead? How did it feel?

SEIYA SUZUKI: The feel was solid, and I knew it would go in the moment I hit it, so that was great.

Q. You and Ohtani, seem to have a really positive vibe together on the bench. How is that?

SEIYA SUZUKI: There are a lot of young players, and I think we're playing with really good energy, keeping our

Spirits up even when we're behind. So today's game was really good.

Q. You were unfortunately unable to play in the previous WBC due to injury. With that in mind, it seems you've been off to a great start performing really well.

SEIYA SUZUKI: I'm really relieved to have hit my first home run for the tournament, and with the disappointment from last time, I'm determined to give it my all and keep fighting in the upcoming games.

Q. Two straight wins for Japan and tomorrow is the game against Australia. Any comments to keep up the winning streak?

SEIYA SUZUKI: Thank you so much to the fans for always cheering us on. Your support gives us a lot of strength, so please keep up the passionate cheering, and please cheer us on even louder than today for the upcoming games.
