WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC: POOL C - CHINESE TAIPEI VS CZECHIA

March 7, 2026

Pavel Chadim

Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo Dome

Team Czechia

Postgame Press Conference

Chinese Taipei 14, Czech Republic 0

Q. Tough game today. I want to ask you about using Martin Schneider. His arm is not all the way back from injury. Curious if this was a sign of respect to him and what he means to the national team.

PAVEL CHADIM: Martin Schneider is the reason why we are here, why we played the last seven games in WBC. It's the first zero game, it hurts, but it hurts. And true, I will tell you after tournament, we are still in the game, I don't want to say a lot of things, sorry.

Q. I want to ask you, because Taiwan lost two games, and today you faced them, and they kind of played very well. Is this the situation you imagined?

PAVEL CHADIM: I felt similar like manager of Taiwan team yesterday against Japan. I think it was very similar in second inning.

But I want to say this: If sport can replace war in the world, and if you can use sport for feeling like the people are competitive between nations, I think this is great role for sport. I enjoy all three games, and if sport, especially baseball, can be instead of wars here, we can see a lot of places in the world, I am happy and I enjoy it, and it was fun for people around, not just on stadium but all the world.

Q. What is your feeling how Chinese Taipei had scouting report on your team?

PAVEL CHADIM: They were prepared. I think they scout us a lot, very good, and -- but it's not bad feeling if defending world champion Premier12 bond with No. 3 hitter, and want to make first run in first inning. It's a good feeling that such a good team afraid of us, just in first inning.
