THE MODERATOR: We'll go ahead and get started with an opening statement from Coach and then take questions for the student-athletes.
AUSTIN PARKINSON: Yeah, my heart hurts for our ladies. I just told 'em in the locker room, the approach -- you know, the season, they have really stuck with it. We came out here, their attitudes were great, their focus was great, they were locked into the game plan, they had great energy today, and it just didn't go our way.
We knew the rebounding was going to be a tough thing. 18 offensive rebounds. That makes it tough against a group like those guys. But we fought. We played really hard. We've got a group that can hopefully learn from this and take it to next year when we come out here.
THE MODERATOR: We'll take questions, please.
Q. How does it feel to be so close but so far away from getting the win?
ANNA WYPYCH: Kind of like what Coach talked about, we had everything prepared for this game. Kind of came up short. So it kind of stings a little bit, but I'm proud of our team for fighting until the end.
Q. First Big East tournament game, you shot the ball 4-8 extremely confidently from jump street. What was it that allowed you, you think, to succeed in kind of the big moments?
ANNA WYPYCH: I definitely think the confidence that Coach P installs in me and also my teammates being able to give me those open shots. Just having the mindset of the next one's going in, not worrying about how many you make, how many you miss. But definitely the confidence that Coach P installs in me and letting me knock those down.
Q. Can you just expand on what this year has meant to you and for the group that you worked hard with all season? Obviously, at this point these are your sisters. What has it felt like to have played with them this year?
ANNA WYPYCH: Yeah. No, this team is something special. I think that our chemistry on and off the court was also something special. I couldn't be more proud of the season, especially how we came back towards the end of the season and really capitalizing on those wins. It kind of stings that we have some seniors that really love this team that are graduating, but it was a great experience, and I'm super proud to be part of this team.
