WOMEN'S AMATEUR ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP

February 15, 2026

Rianne Malixi

Heretaunga, Wellington, New Zealand

Quick Quotes

Q. Rianne, end of a big week here. Start with the final round today. Talk us through the round and I guess how challenging it was with those conditions.

RIANNE MALIXI: Yeah, we got to like bad weather today. Like you said, finally showed its teeth today in New Zealand, so it was really struggling today. I hit a lot of really good low shots, really couple of bad ones. So it's a mix.

But, yeah, putting was also like a struggle today. I couldn't get any of my putts to drop like the past two or three days. Yeah, so that's like how my round went, so, yeah.

Q. Currently tied for third. Can you talk us through your eagle? Did you have an eagle on 10?

RIANNE MALIXI: Yeah, so I eagled 10 my first round and today. I hit a really good, low driver; had like 215 yards left and it was blowing behind me. So I used hybrid. Bounced from the front of the green and ended up back and made the putt there, so yeah.

Q. And coming into this final round, obviously a bit of a gap with the leader, but did you think you were a chance if you could make a bit of a move in these conditions?

RIANNE MALIXI: Yeah, but I was like far back heading into the last round, and then, yeah, there is always like a chance, but I didn't really capitalize today, especially with how I was struggling today with my putting in a couple shots.

So kind of like never really gave it a chance, so, yeah.

Q. Still right there in the mix. How do you assess the whole week for yourself?

RIANNE MALIXI: I would say I think it's great. I'm glad to be playing in a really good event since the past, what, year and a half maybe since my injury.

So, yeah, I'm really happy and grateful. Yeah, I'm looking forward for what's in store for me.

Q. And you've obviously played this event quite a lot. I think this is another Top 5 for you, which is an aggressive overall resume. How does that make you feel?

RIANNE MALIXI: Yeah, it's like, what, technically my fifth time playing this event. Yeah, couple of Top 10s. It's great. It sucks I couldn't really back a win, but, yeah, I'm looking forward to the upcoming season.

Yeah.

Q. And you mentioned the injury last year and all that. How does it feel to be back playing and competing at the top level here?

RIANNE MALIXI: It's great. Again, Asia Pacific is a really good event to play. It's a major for me. I'm really glad to play this. It's always an honor.

Yeah, just really grateful.

Q. What does this mean to you moving forward? What have you got coming up?

RIANNE MALIXI: Well, I got a couple collegiate events before Augusta National and I'll definitely prep for that.

Q. How have you enjoyed New Zealand apart from the weather today, but in general coming here to New Zealand?

RIANNE MALIXI: The food is great. The food is great, yeah.
