WOMEN'S AMATEUR ASIA-PACIFIC CHAMPIONSHIP

February 15, 2026

Darae Chung

Heretaunga, Wellington, New Zealand

Quick Quotes

Q. It's been a very long weekend. Very cold day. How have you enjoyed your final round here?

DARAE CHUNG: Yeah, I mean, like you said, it's been a long week, but I had a lot of fun today. It was a huge challenge with the wind and being so tired from the last three days.

Yeah, I had my family and friends out here and that was really nice for them to support me throughout the day.

Q. And what do you think you did really well over the past four days, some of your strengths?

DARAE CHUNG: I think I had a great mental strategy this whole week. Being the club (wind) I feel like I had a lot of pressure to play well and perform, but I think I just tried to go through my process and stay level headed with my caddie.

Just tried to enjoy it out there as much as possible.

Q. And how do you like playing in front of a New Zealand crowd? How is that?

DARAE CHUNG: It's so awesome. I think it feels so different because I know everyone's face. So, yeah, it was really fun to be able to play in front of them.

Yeah, I was really excited when they would clap for me when I played a putt or something like that. Yeah, really enjoyed it.

Q. How did your Team New Zealand like this tournament? Do you guys gel quite really together?

DARAE CHUNG: Yeah. I mean, we're 11 girls, which is a lot of players in one field. Yeah, we're all quite good friends with each other and everyone is really nice and sweet. Yeah, feel like we got along quite nicely.

Q. Looking forward to the next tournament? What can you take from the learnings from this one to the next?

DARAE CHUNG: I think the biggest lesson I had this week was patience and trust. I feel like I got ahead of myself very early on in the tournament this week just wanting to play well, but then once I got patient I became a lot better.

And then also just trusting the wind and trusting my play. Like I have all the tools. I just need to be able to execute it when I need to.

Q. How does it feel being the top ranked New Zealander in the tournament finishing up?

DARAE CHUNG: Yeah, that's a pretty nice bonus on top of everything. Yeah, I mean, a lot of Kiwis made the cut this week so to be to be the top New Zealander is a great honor.

Q. What do you think that you and Team New Zealand playing here at home means for up-and-coming, aspiring young golf athletes here in New Zealand?

DARAE CHUNG: Yeah, there was a lot of junior girls out there, and that was encouraging to see. And especially how everyone did She Loves Golf down in the Village. I think it's really great we've been able to have this tournament especially for women's golf and the growth for young girls.

I hope we were able to display some great golf out there for them to be inspired and start playing.

Q. And one last little question: Anything out there you want to say to your family and friends, fans in New Zealand?

DARAE CHUNG: Thank you so much, especially coming out on the last day. It was such a challenge to walk 18 holes.

But I hope everyone enjoyed the golf, and, yeah, I love you guys.
