LIV GOLF ADELAIDE

February 13, 2026

Bryson DeChambeau

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

The Grange

Crushers GC

Press Conference

THE MODERATOR: Let's welcome to the stage Crushers GC captain Bryson DeChambeau. Bryson, 5-under. Please walk us through round 2 for yourself today.

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, no, it was an interesting round of golf today. I played a lot better than I scored. It was just an up-and-down day. I felt like I got really not much out of it.

Par-5s I took advantage on, which is great. Then a couple bad par-3s, bad shots on the par-3s, just misjudging wind and wind just changing. You can't control that.

My wedges still need to improve. It's the one thing in my game that I really have to change and get going in a good direction.

But overall I've played some solid golf. I'm seeing stuff that I haven't seen as early in a year in the past four or five years. I'm seeing some great lines and feel comfortable over putts, some testers, comfortable over wedges and comfortable over shots that are really difficult.

To be feeling this good early on in the season is a great sign. I've just got to keep compounding it and moving it in a good direction.

Q. An interesting day but still only two back from the lead with two rounds to go. As you approach the weekend, do you still have that confidence and feel good that two rounds to really make moves and end up where you want to be?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, just focus on myself and give myself the best opportunity to make birdie on every single hole. If I have that mindset, I'll be fine come Sunday.

Q. Bryson, is there a specific reason or two that you were able to find this comfort level that you've reached now? Obviously you put in a lot of hard work. Anything specific, though?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, I mean, it's a lot of work in the off-season. I started earlier this year. I started November speed training, so I got that kind of out of my system. Last year I was prepping and doing some speed training in January.

It delayed my speed until the middle of the year and cost me a couple months, so I changed that this year, and it's implemented some nice changes, and I feel really fast. Almost too fast in a sense sometimes. So my iron play is a little not on point.

But man, I've got something coming that I can't wait to have. Hopefully I'll have it for Hong Kong and that three-week stint, and it'll be something that greatly improves my iron play and wedges. We'll see. You never know.

But I think it just comes from practicing a little earlier and getting with my coach Dana and working hard with Sportsbox a lot. It's been fun working with Sportsbox. We're about to unveil something pretty special with AI so I'm pumped about it. It'll be incredibly helpful in dire times of need to be even more specific than pretty much any coach out there.

I love Dana; Dana is working with it. It's great. But I can't wait to have that here soon. It's right on the cusp of changing the game of golf from an instruction standpoint. I'm really pumped about that.

But I've been using that and really working on my sequencing for speed and also alignment of the face, and it's done pretty well, but just got to dial it in.

Q. I did want to ask you about going with the AC/DC song this week. Is that a little local nod?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, just a little local nod, a little Australian flair with AC/DC. You know what's funny; growing up, I actually thought they were American for the longest time, and then come to find out they're from Australia.

No, it is fun. It's fun being able to play that song and give them a little something to cheer for. I don't know, maybe I should put like a post online of what I should play tomorrow or the weekend. That would be fun.

Anyway, it's fun. I love the atmosphere and love the party hole. Hopefully I can make an ace. That would be fun.

Q. I know you're in the midst of a battle for the top at the moment, but if we can look ahead to South Africa, I know you have a lot of banter with the Southern Guards players with Louis and the guys. Just looking ahead at South Africa, what you're expecting, what you're thinking of, are you expecting the same type of vibe there, as well?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: I think we're definitely expecting the same type of vibe down in South Africa. It's always been a dream of mine to play in South Africa. I've not gotten the chance to do that. To finally go down and play in a great place that has produced an amazing amount of world-class players and athletes, it's quite special.

Excited to give the fans a LIV Golf experience. It's something they've never experienced, and I hope they see the light of what we're trying to provide around the world. It's going to be a stellar time that certainly I'll remember for the rest of my life, and then I'll be doing probably a safari, as well, which will be sick. I'm excited for that week. It's going to be a great week.

Q. Is there an animal you're looking forward to seeing?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Maybe I could ride an elephant or something. That would be crazy.

Q. Bryson, you're an incredibly high-profile and popular golfer no matter where you go in the world. I walked six or seven holes with your group today and hearing the chants and the screams from a lot of the fans, can you talk about the reception you're receiving down here in Adelaide this year?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, it's been fantastic. I have to say this is one of my favorite events to come to in LIV Golf because the atmosphere is always going to be awesome. People are going to be giving me banter, good and bad, and I love it. I think it's what the sport is about and what us professionals should embrace more of.

This is why I came out to LIV Golf, and this is our star and our showcase. It's been a lot of fun playing here in Australia, and I can't wait to see what this weekend brings. It's going to be a crazy environment.

Q. I don't know how aware you were on hole 7 of DJ; he tried to putt a ball out of the bunker there at one stage.

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: I saw that.

Q. What did you make of that? And just talk about playing out of the bunkers here?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: Yeah, they can be difficult. I didn't expect to have a plugged lie on 14, and I did. Walking up there, it was a 10:00 punch shot that I thought would bounce and kind of roll forward, and it plugged, so they can be diabolical. Then if you get in a tight lie and you're short-sided, it's almost impossible to get it up-and-down. You're just hoping to make a 30-footer for par or whatnot.

You have to be strategic around here and avoid the bunkers at all costs, but the that putter was kind of like my thinned drive on 10 yesterday.

Q. You talked about going to safari in South Africa. I saw you milking camels the other week. You've got a couple of weeks off after this. What are you doing in Australia with some of the best golf courses in the world?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: I wish I could stay here a little longer. I've got some meetings I've got to go back to. But we did do something on Monday that you'll see, this previous Monday that you'll see more of. That was quite a bit of fun, with some kangaroos and whatnot. We had a good time.

I just feel like when I'm traveling around the world, why not. Why not go see the culture, see the people, see the places. The world has a lot to offer, and I think that's what's so special about golf and why I love competing globally because we're afforded those opportunities and we're so blessed to do it. So why not go after it and experience those cultures.

Q. You looked like a little bit frustrated when you came in here. Obviously you looked to hit it amazing today, or at least for most of it. What do you reckon it's going to be like the next two days?

BRYSON DeCHAMBEAU: If I play my good type of golf, I know I can definitely go low. It's really going to depend on a couple good breaks coming every three or four holes hopefully and then just continuing to execute good shots. With it rolling everywhere, it can go to some crazy places, so staying patient is key. If I can keep rolling it well and hitting my irons and wedges a little bit better, I think I'll give myself a shot this weekend and put some pressure on Jon and hopefully make him feel some pressure coming down the stretch.

It's going to be a good battle no matter what, and maybe it's somebody from behind, as well. You never know. That's the thing about this golf course. I saw Ben Campbell 9-under; I'm like, I didn't see that out there today, especially with the wind just flipping around. It's diabolical, and there's a bunch of great players out here, and the fields are getting stronger.

The level of play is definitely increased. I can tell you that. From last week to this week, I'm not expecting some of these scores out here. It's pretty impressive.

Three 9-unders today? Wow, I suck.
