DUSTIN JOHNSON: Got off to kind of not a great start, even though I didn't really hit many bad shots, just missed a couple putts. Kind of misjudged the wind a couple times, but the wind was, like I said, really tricky today. It was blowing hard, and it was moving around a little bit, too.
But made a nice birdie on 6 and then holed a really nice putt for eagle on 7 and then chipped in on 9 for eagle. That definitely helped the round out a lot and kind of got me going.
Then made a nice birdie on 10, too. Had a nice little stretch there where I got back under par and was playing pretty solid from there on out.
Q. At this moment, the 4Aces are currently tied for the lead on the team leaderboard. Obviously it's just day one. But this morning the team made the announcement of the addition of Anthony Kim to the roster. As the team captain, what does the signing of AK mean to the Aces and what can he bring to the team?
DUSTIN JOHNSON: Yeah, we had a spot open and had a nice week last week. I know he's been working really hard on his game. I've seen the progression over the last couple years, so we're excited to have him. I know he's excited to be a part of the team.
I think he's only going to keep getting better. Obviously had a really nice round today, too. It was a really nice signing this morning.
Q. Going back to AK, how nice is it to have the roster done; you don't have to worry about it anymore for the rest of the season?
DUSTIN JOHNSON: Yeah, for sure. That was kind of our goal is we knew last week was going to be tough to figure it out, but we wanted to get something done by this week and for the rest of the year so we know exactly what we have and we can work on that.
Q. Interesting to see AK in Aces apparel?
DUSTIN JOHNSON: No, I think he looks good in an Aces uniform. Obviously he plays good in it, too.
Q. You mentioned the tricky winds today. Obviously the weather is going to warm up over the weekend. What do you think that'll do to the course, particularly Sunday, if it's going to be 37 Celsius, which is predicted at the moment?
DUSTIN JOHNSON: Yeah, the course, I think, with the conditions that we had today, today is supposed to be the windiest day. I think they were worried about it getting a little out of land because the greens were still receptive, but I think over the next three days it's going to get firmer and faster, obviously, with the weather.
This course is a lot of fun to play when it's like that, but it gets really tricky, and you've got to hit it in the right spots and control the golf ball.
Yeah, I think the course will just get tougher and tougher as the weekend goes on.
